After watching this forum for a while now, and after seeing the new SID4 I thought I would give it ago.
After using Action Replay to transfer the saves onto my flash drive and then copying them onto the XBox, I booted up Splinter Cell and went and tried loading the game only to get a MS XBox error screen. I assume it was an Error 21 because of the large 21 in the top left of the screen. This is the first time in the past 2 years I have ever had an error. I think I'm lucking to have a well behaved box.
Ed: I never get to the Softmod install screen.
The SC game is an original which I hired from the video store, and so there isn't any other SC saved games or DL'd content from Live. I do though have some saved games from SC Pandora Tomorrow on there.
The dashboard is the correct version, and the XBox is as per store bought, with no modchips or other modified content on the HDD.
I have heard that Action Replay isn't the best choice for game transfers, so could that likely be the problem, and am I best to grab a Mega X-Key?
I'm also thinking I might try the other games to see if they result in the same error.
Any ideas?

an error 21 is usually a dashboard error this happens when a dashboard is renamed of cannot be found.when u installed the soft mod there was 2 things u should have done before u installed
1st-back-up your eeprom
2nd-back-up your ms dash
then install the softmod
and it should have worked
also can u still play games or no??

Sorry, I should have expanded my first post just a little bit more.
I get the error after selecting the save game in SC, so I never get to the Softmod install screen.
The Softmod is currently not installed.

Did you follow the tutorial correctly and installed both the SID4.NK.Launcher gamesave and Splinter Cell, cause the game save will boot to Linux Installer Save which is named SID 4 Launcher, if you don't have both gamesaves on xbox, you'll get error 21. _________________ Xbox v1.1

I'm not sure if this the problem but you have just mentioned SID 4 Launcher, but in Action Replay it's listed as SID 4 Installer.
I have attached a screen shot.
Ed: I should probably add to ignore the Mega X-Key name for the memory card, it was just a name I gave to my usb drive in the beginning when I was thinking it was going to work with Mega X-Key. It's just a 'plain-jane' 32MB flash drive.

This is correct if your Xbox is PAL, just make sure you take both of those gamesaves on your xbox hdd, not just the Splinter Cell, so when you look on your xbox hdd, you have both of these saved.

Yep, there's no problem with both saves being copied onto the XBox. Have been doing that from the start.
It just refuses to start the Launcher. I'll try a different game over the weekend.
Just on a seperate topic, what's with the XBox stats under my name? Where can I go to change that?
I forgot to add that it's a PAL system.

Well it seems as though I am getting corrupt game transfers somewhere.
After failing to find a different game to hire, I went out and purchased Mechassault for a ridiculously low price, and when selecting the campain profile I noticed that it didn't have the profile info as described in the install instructions.
Looks as though I'll have to purchase a proper Mega X-Key.

Mega-X drove me crazy, so I never use it. What I do is tranfer via some savegame manager and copy them over my USB stick. Of course I have an already sid-ed xbox.
I am almost sure that SID installer is not trasferred correctly. I can bet on this

I'm still having troubles getting this going.
I have a question. Say my game transfers were good, will the XBox still give an Error 21 if the wrong version of the game is used, like a newer version?
Do the newer un-exploitable versioned games not crash?

it;s more likely a problem with your AR mem card. I have had the same problems with my AR mem card and splinter cell. If you can get the menu going use filemanager to go to drive E (I think) the game save is on there. and look for a folder called 21585554 If you explore this folder you will come across a file called c.zip You can look at the contents of this and if like me you get a corrupt file error message then this is your answer.
As DJB has said to me "invest in an official MS Memory card and there will be no problems."

but w/ the official memoryy cards i didnt thinnk you could plug it into the computer can u ????????
because near me the stores only have the action replay

I must admit they are difficult to get hold of from local shops and no you can't plug them into a PC, you would still need AR
