I bring my xbox back and forth between my moms and my dads houses, and im a very networked enjoyed big kid as far as my knowledge goes. i hoping someone can help me with this.
Both my parents have the same ISP so i use my Email as a PPPOE login at both places on both routers, but i know this has nothing to do with my problem just putting this out there just in case.
My moms router is a linksys, model offhand i do not know im at my dads atm, but the thing works really great i get about 9-10mb/s transfer on my xbox when i ftp over movies, games and such.
My dads router on the other hand is a 2Wire that was gave to us by the isp we have.It has quite a bit of port blocks and is very secure built in firewall. bhut im positive i have port 21 open. i get about 1-2mb/s transfer when transfering over movies and such.
the question finally, just recently i was trying to FTP over a Playstation dump for my xbox emulator. i got speeds of about 300kb/s i know this cannot be right because only thing im using is a 25 foot ethernet cord and i get about a 30ms when i ping my xbox.
If anyone would know why this would be i would love you forever. because it happenes quite often

what IP address do you use on each router?
is the router IP address constant (i.e are they both set to 192.168.1.1 or something like that)

they both are set to 192.168.1.103
once and a while it will change to 102 at my moms, but thats only because the lease on something else runs out. we have quite a few networked things at my moms. (2 DS, 2 PSP, 2 laptops, a desktop, a PDA, my xbox, PS3, Wii, a ps2, just to name a few)
my box is also fit to DCHP

the routers privat ip address should always be static. If the ip address changes and the gateway is still set to the old address that could be your problem. Double check the router set ups in both locations

You mean say I access it from my computer? If so yes. My buddy did it so I could fix some stuff for him. I can ask him if this is what you're trying to do. _________________
