haha, well i wouldnt think it would be to hard. all you woul dhave to do is DMZ Plus the xbox, then maybe forward a few ports but i wouldnt know which ports to forward. also you would have to DCHP your xbox. i have a general idea and i havent tried it yet because im to lazy, i just want some hardcore evidence and guide lines. im going to be by my self soon here so maybe ill give it a shot and let you guys know whats goin on with the process.

well after taking my own network knowledge i have figured out how to do it, i can access my xbox through my actual IP not my hidden router IP except i do still want someone to try to access this outside my network, so then i know if i can do this for sure. because then i can make a tutorial on it. if i can get some help i would greatly enjoy this.

If your xbox is hooked up to a router it only has a local IP. your router prevents outside users from accessing it with the firewall. Thats why you have to forward ports. _________________

i tried it but i only got half way there, i can connect to it with my public ip but everyone else it timeouts and i can transfer anything because it timeouts, but im thinking it might be because i had a static ip. my router doesnt like static ips so im going to give it another shot without one.

thats one way. Anything in the DMZ though is open to the outside.

this is more like it, you have to forward port 21 traffic from the router to an IP address on the internal LAN.

Wrong, if you set the xbox to dhcp and forward to a set IP address, what happens if the xbox ip address changes?

My xbox's ip never changes when its set to dhcp. You just have to make sure its plugged into the same spot on the router _________________

no bong it can change if you have alot of things on your network.
and i have now confirmed the work of a outside FTP. all you have to do is forward your port 21 and use your public ip off www.ipchicken.com or you can use "ipconfig /all" of course in your cmd. please try this, for you people that wanted it and i will help assist you in doing this.

just remember opening ports on a router is also open gates for hackers the router act like a firewall you will need to have a very good firewall and virus software on your pc if its hookup also i could be wrong here but just to be safe

dude ive been on computer for almost 7 years and ive learned all you need is a good head on your shoulders. yeah ive gotten viruses from visiting stupid sites, but thats because i visited stupid sites. all you need is a good router which hides your ip. my computer is currently DMZ'd with no anti virus. or firewall, because my router acts as a firewall.
Being that you open your ports up on your xbox you only forward them so its only one port you have to open. your router still hides your ip, you have to give people your public ip in order to connect to your xbox. its not open to the world. only the world you choose.
and yes im 16, but i know way to much about computers and networking then i should.
