I flashed evox m8 bios and launched it. The evox dashboard spposed to come up after i launch the bios, right? it doesnt appear. I have the dashboard files on my xbox. I got X2 5035 and flashed that. I launched it and still the dashboard doesnt come up, just the microsoft dashboard. What am i doing wrong?

Can i use a different dashboard (i dont really want to) and why and how to setup.

It sounds as if you are confusing dashboard and bios.

Evox M8 is a bios, not a dashboard
X2 5035 is also a bios, not a dashboard.

You needo to FTP a dashboard to your C partition on your Xbox HD. I recommend Evox build 3935 as it is a very simple dashboard to get moving.

If you don't have FTP skills, then you could download an autoinstaller like AID 3.0 and let the installer put the correct files in the correct partition/folder.

What is the bios set to boot? Make sure that the bios you have flashed is supposed to boot e:\default.xbe if thats where you put your dash, or f:\evoxdash.xbe, etc.

If the bios is set to boot c:, then there is the problem.

Also, are you sure that the chip is turned on to the right bank, and that it is also actually booting the m8?

where on the xbox did you put the 2 dash files,

they should be evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini

put them on the root of the C drive and the Evox M8 bios should boot the dash no problem. Check the XBE isnt called default.xbe too, if it is rename it to evoxdash.xbe

PM me or post back if ur still stuck

If you have FTP access then you can delete them through that.

Was this xbox softmodded previously? If so you might have the shadow img mounted instead of the actual c:, and that could cause the problem with the files not moving.

Have you tried installing the dashboard with AID?

Last resorts would be to either format the drive and reinstall everything with AID, or you could reflash the bios to look where the files are currently.

Why are you on this bios kick???? You need a dash...ftp the put the dash that way then. Go on X-bins pull the lastest ver and ftp that over to your C drive and replace every file thats the FTP client asks you too. Bios isn't the iusse.

I don't know what you are doing but...you need AID 3 or do what I said go to x-bins and get the whole new dash file and replace it all in your C drive.

His Bios is working fine (obviously) and if the box was softmodded with SID4.5 before, the chip wouldn't launch with the 5035 Bios. So, obviously, he has to edit his x2config.ini file. So, buddy, when you open it up, scroll down (if you have to) to find these lines

Quote:
; 255 characters max here, format is <drive>:<path_to_xbe>.xbe, e.g. "f:dashes\avalaunch.xbe"
dash1Name = c:avalaunch.xbe
dash2Name = C:xbmc.xbe
dash3Name = c:unleashx.xbe
dash4Name = c:xbmc.xbe
dash5Name = c:xboxdash.xbe

Now, see dash 1 name? change the .xbe to the name of the dash you want to boot. So, line 1 would read like this:

Quote:
dash1Name = c:evoxdash.xbe

Considering that's where your hacked dash is. It can even look like this:

Quote:
dash1Name = e:\apps\xbmc\default.xbe
if you're like me and like to keep your E drive looking clean and all those files out of the root. Once you have the .ini file set how you need it, FTP it over to the box, reboot, and after the "Xecuter Config Live" shows, and the flubber runs, your chit will boot to the dashboard of your choice. Problem solved.
