That kicks @$$, i told you you can do it.
Now this time softmod with sid 5 and use the dule boot and it will all be good.
Congrats on a job well done.
It doesn't seem like the soft-mod is taking. I used sid 5 and did the dual boot with unleashx. and it just goes to the regular m$ dash. I even tried holding the eject button down like I read somewhere in the forums.. and it just goes to the regular dash, not unleashx. I even tried reinstalling the soft-mod and it's a no go. Any tips?

check your MS Dash version.
Go to System, then select System Settings.

ive had problems with sid5 before... What ive dont is copletely remove all remnants of a softmod rverting back to a retail box.. erased the game saves....Even all the apps, emus, i mean all of it....
Then restarted the whole process from scratch...Reinstlled game saves, booted with mechassault. and yada yada...
cured the problem...of softmod errors...

but one major thing if its at all possible, hurry and grab your eeprom.bin
With that you can use anyones C: to make a XBHDM disc.. Just in case.
Thats how i saved the day from a dieing HDD... _________________

arrg.. I've tried all the suggestions.. even used a different memory card to save the exploits.. tried the newer 5.1 sid.. and nothing is working. maybe i should try installing on c instead of virtual c like the vid tut and see if that works.. i also have 3.1 sid to try if all that fails.. or maybe try a different dash? instead of the unleashx?

You dant want to use virtual C it will hide your MSdash, install to C drive and make sure you made an ms dash and eeprom backup.

Yayy!! I did it!! Finally! Yeah, that's what the problem was.. I was trying to put it in the virtual c drive like the video tut was showing.. and it didn't work.. Put it in the standard drive, and it works like a charm.. even the ftp works fine and dandy. Figures it would be something stupid like that. So now that I have the softmod working..
Just out of curiosity, how many emulators and their respective games can I fit onto the stock hd?

Well i dident push the limits on mine and on the stock drive i got nintendo emu with 1000s of roms, snes emu with a few hundred, sega emu with 150 to 200 roms, atari with 100's of roms, and last and least caleco with about 200 roms.
I have room for more but dont use them much so i stoped adding.
Its grate to hear you got it up and running now, and you have been one of the best to help since you at no point seemed to get mad or point any blame at me.
If you need anything more just ask the HQ is allways here.

LOL naww.. there's no reason to get mad at you guys. You just try to help the best you can with the information you're given. I'll admit I was frustrated.. but not at you.. at the fact that I couldn't get the darn thing to work right. Right now I'm ftping xbmc to my E:\Apps like they suggest. Though, I didn't have an Apps folder in my E that I could see.. so I just created a folder. Is it possible to get it to show up under Applications in Unleashx? or make a shortcut somehow to it? and the same if I wanna put emulators and such on the drive.. how would I get them to show up under Emulators?
Oh, and thanks for the help. You guys rawk!

You got it right just make the folder and add the stuff to it and it will show up, add one app and reboot and if it wont show in the apps menu delete the folder and use aid to install an app that will make the apps folder and most of the time get it to show.
That trick works for your emus too.
