The stock drive meaning the retail drive I have? I tried using it and I got an error 9. When I'm getting the green "oops!" error screen is that the Xecuter BIOS screen or is that a preliminary screen for AID?

Anybody have a suggestion on my next step? Since I apparently wasn't booting AID after all, I guess I should get that booted. Will AID be able to bypass the error 6 on the BIOS menu? If so, I'm hoping AID has a lock/unlock option. But then again that might not be useful bc the Cromwell BIOS has the same option, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I guess I'm going to build a new drive tomm. I will tweak my Thonpson drive and get AID booted tonight.

cromwell or AID can both lock/unlock, but not from error 6. 6 means the drive is unable to be locked because of the wrong password. cromwell/aid cannot figure out what the wrong password is. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

Well how can that happen? The HD that is getting the error 6 is the one that was softmodded and I used it for years. How can the password be wrong? Did the installation of the modchip cause the error 6?
So can I stop playing around and just build a new drive? And a link to a good guide if you know of one would be nice. Thanks.

When you download AID, it comes with a manual, and it has instructions on how to build a new drive with modchip. _________________

Damn this thing. The Thomson tweaking process is easy enough, but for some reason I couldn't get the damn screw to turn. After trying for 20 min I'm pretty sure the thing is stripped beyond repair. I never put a lot of pressure on it either. I guess the metal is rather soft. Well it looks like I have to start the never ending hunt for some compatible media.
Does anyone know if they sell "pre-tweaked" drives anywhere? Either that or I coul dbuy one of the other brands that are compatible with more brands of media.

theres locktite on the pot, you have to scrape it away before tweaking, but I apply enough pressure just to break it loose normally heh heh heh, if you got a camera, take a pic of it and lets see how bad it is. Just post it up here. _________________

I got all the Loc Tite off easy enough., but it looks like I stripped the whole head off. The funny thing is the pic on the guide looks like there is nowhere to insert a screwdriver. It doesn't even look like a screw head. It looks like a hacked up block of metal. Mine prettty much looks like that though.

If you push into it hard enough it should break loose, then it should turn with ease. just try not to break it lol. _________________

I still don't get what I'm supposed to turn it with. There's nowhere to insert a screwdriver! I edited the above post. I removed the Loc Tite fine.

Sorry if I'm not being clear, but where do you put a screwrdriver in that pic? There is no screw head in that pic or in mine.
