Acctually the samsung is more picky, and the thompson should be able to read dvd+r's.
And the thompson drive can be tweaked to read everything. _________________

This POS Thompson drive won't read anything. I'm going to try and find a small Tv so I can flash my BIOS via HTTP. My router is upstairs in my office and there's no TV in there.

I just searched for a guide on tweaking the Thompson. I work in IT and I actually am in charge of all the hardware for my company, so this is no problem. I just have to see if I have a multimeter here at the house. If not I'll do it tomm at work.
I'm goin to try to flash it VIA HTTP now though. All my TVs are too big to lug into the office.

True but the router is in my office. That's the only thing that can't be moved easily.
Well I have successfully flashed my BIOS via HTTP to X2 5035. I just flashed the regular old 5035 and not the other versions. I assumed those were for v1.6 boxes. I am going to see if AID will load now. Damn you Thompson drives.

Nice. Has an optimal level been found over the years, or does it still vary in each drive like I read earlier? Most of the guides I found were older.

OK boys we are mking SOME progress. I finally got AID to boot, but I received an error 6 on the Oops! screen. Should I just give in and accept that my HD is toast. The BIOS gives me the error reading first sector and now this. I should probably start building a new drive? Man I really want to save all the stuff on the drive.

error 6 means your hard drive cannot be unlocked, odd. _________________

I tried switching my chip to bank 2 and using the FlashBIOS to lock the HD, no luck. Then I tried installing a retail HD and I get an error 9. Good lord.
The only thing different I did was install a retail HD in the Xbox when I didn't know what I was doing. Could that have had any effect on the current situation?

error 9 could mean a few things, wrong jumper setting or the harddrive is toast or the ata cable is not connected properly
Now you got a hdd that cant unlock and a hdd thats possibly dead. _________________
