Hello all!

I'm not sure anyone can help me with this one, but I thought I might throw it up here in case some one else has had and fixed this problem. I finally got evox running on my xbox via UDE and I tried to run mamedOX v1.0 on it. It didn't work, so I decided to try another version: mameox v 0.84.b3, which did work. So I tried to delete the mamedox folder but couldn't. It said the folder contained read only files. So I explored the folder and found that the sub directory "Skins" contained two new folders that were not there when I uploaded it. They are "/" and "¹". The directory "/" takes me back to the top level of the file system, and the directory "¹" appears to be empty, but when I access it, the terminal prints a ton of "attempt to access beyond end of device" errors. And if I ty to delete it, it tells me the folder is not empty. And after all this chaos, the older version of mameox just freezes when I try to load it now. Has anyone had anything this crazy happen before? Any theories on how to get rid of it?

yes, i was carefull to remove the hidden files. But when i use the ls command to dislpay it contents, the terminal spews a ton jibberish, like random symbols and punctuation marks. Although I still can't figure out how to remove them, I did figure out how add to and remove files from the drive while avoiding the problem happening again. So I figure I should post it incase some one else has a problem as crazy as this. 1st, I figured out that when it tells me a file is read-only (when it's not) I can umount and remount the drive to get it to allow write permissions again. Also, I noticed that when ever it "attemped to access out side the device", it would also complain about files missing EOF (end of file). I compared the file size with the size of the file uploaded and noticed they had somehow gotten smaller when I put them on the xbox. So I assumed they were somehow getting clipped. I downloaded a copy of Power Zip to make .tar.gz files, and was carefull to zip up files before trying to ftp them. Then use the tar command to unzip them after the transfer. I noticed this doesn't work so well if the compressed file contains a sub directory. So I have to manually re-create the file tree of the folder I'm trying to copy and then copy their contents individually in .tar.gz files. I also noticed that files copied in this manor do not have any problems being deleted. After useing this method of copying files, both MamedOx and Mameox would load but freeze up after any button was pushed. Later I figured out that if I unplug the 2nd controller on the 1st time they load up, they both load up just fine every time after. So far all is well. I haven't heard of anyone else haveing a problem this bizarre, and I have and incling I may have a bad hard drive or somthing, but just in case some one else ends up getting this screwed I hope this post helps. Later!
