Hi,
I got myself an xbox on ebay. It has an older version of xbmc installed. To update it I burned aid 4.30 on an CD-RW and installed everything from the scratch - so far so good.
Now I put a new HD in my xbox. When I turn it on I get Error 5 (Call xbox support) which makes sense since the HD isn't locked for my xbox (right?).
But now I can't boot from my aid 4.30 cd. I always get the Error screen. When I put in the old HD everythings fine...
Hello,
It sounds to me like your Xbox is softmodded.
If you had a chip in there swapping the drive should pose no problem, the chips bios would allow AID to boot.
If you want to upgrade your hard drive you have a couple of options, slightly more difficult but relatively plain sailing.

Yeah, simply putting in a new HDD and trying to boot AID will not work, hence the error message.
You'll need to either clone your current drive to your new bigger one, or build your new HDD from scratch.
The links that User1 has provided for you will enable you to clone your existing HDD to the new one, keeping the files and setup but gaining extra space. Do you know what version of Xbox you have?
If it's version 1.0 - 1.5, Chimp would probably be your best and easiest option. If its a v1.6, consider using XboxHDM, as you'd have to telnet in to the Xbox using Chimp.
You get stuck or need anything, just yell, we're always around.
