I've managed to totally screw up my xbox. I've got a modchip installed and it's been working perfectly for years. The other day I was playing ninja gaiden, and for some strange reason I was silly enough to choose the 'add new gamertag to the xbox dashboard' even though I'm not connected to xbox live (don't ask why - I'm not really sure myself). Well, now I can't use the MSDASHBOARD any more, and that's really sad bacause I had tonnes of excellent music on it. Is there any way I can fix it? Delete some files through the FTP or something? And is there any way I might be able to retrieve the music to my PC? I hope somebody can help, as this REALLY sucks!!!

get yourself a autoinstaller - preferably ours xbox-hq.com cos its fully updated
put it on a disc cd-rw or dvd-r then boot off it reinstall the M$ Dash from the options and it should work
and dont touch live untill youve spent at least an hour reading tutorials for own good _________________ Xbox v1.2

Dont know if you saw my other post, but I am having a problem after using the autoinstaller. Wondering if I could pick your brain cuz I am plum outta ideas!!
Xbox Version 1.4, Xenium Ice chip, Xecuter2 4983.67 bios, 250GB HD, after I flashed bios I installed new HD.
Loaded autoinstaller and first I chose to format large HD.
Installed EvoX
Installed Apps
Installed MS Dash
Locked HD
Can backup games, load apps, can go to MS Dash fine as long as modchip is ON.
As soon as I boot machine with chip disabled I get error 13.

I dont really know but here is you error
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
Also this could be because you have not intalled the M$ dash onto the correct drive c:\ i think it is
Have you tried this?
I suppose you turn off your modchip to get on live, since youve got a xenium have you tried to put it on hidden/silent mode. _________________ Xbox v1.2

Yeah, I saw the error 13 definition. And, I used the autoinstaller to install the MS Dash on the C: Drive, so that much is good to go.
What do you mean by hidden/silent mode.
Here is how I boot this machine.
When I turn it on I have the Xenium 2.0 OS looking at me. I then either select Xecuter2 bios or MS Dashboard (Retail Kernel). I also set my LED color to be Green if MS Bios/Dash loads and Blue if Xectuer2 loads.
So, if I choose Xecuter2 modchip is enabled and light is blue. If I choose MS Dash, modchip is disabled and light is green. That is the only way I know to clock the Xenium, but this old dog certainly is up for new tricks
I can FTP into the xbox and see all the evox and ms dash files on the C Drive. Like I said previously, I even tried FTP'ing my entire C: Drive from my mod that I can launch MS Dashboard to my PC and then replacing the new mod's C folder with mine and I actually got further. The splash screen loaded, then the Microsoft word appeared below the X but then it fragged again and this time I got Error 21! That's the closest I came. I have posted in about six other forums and talked to another VERY experienced modding friend and all say that I did everything correct and nobody knows what it is. I am wondering if MS Dash that I tried to FTP and tried to use from the autoinstaller are incompatible with the retail kernel of this machine.
So, tomorrow when radio shack opens I guess I can get a y-cord adapter and connect the retail HD to the new large HD and transfer the data over so the dash that came with the xbox is now on the new HD. I wish I would have done that from the beginning, but everyone said that our autoinstaller would be fine and I wouldn't have to transfer any files from retail. What's funny is I can boot the MS Dashboard with the modchip enabled and get NO errors. Only happens when modchip is turned disabled.

I'll check out that stealth mode cuz that would be huge since I can launch the MS Dash with the chip on.
I don't see what my bios would have to do with it since it's not even coming into play when I launch the MS Dashboard with the modchip off. Actually, it's the opposite since when I load the Xecuter2 bios with modchip on I am launching the MS Dashboard successfully. However, that does no good because can't login to xbox live with chip enabled and using hacked bios.
I am curious to how a modchip can be in stealth mode and still use the hacked bios? That just doesn't seem possible to me. I just don't want my friend to get banned from xbox live because he gets on with a hacked bios and it's detected.
I'll keep you posted if I find something out, if you think of anything else keep throwing it at me..it's greatly appreciated!
Oh, and yes I did try rebuilding the HD (reformatting). No joy!

Thanks. I might seem stupid, but how the hell do I find the msdashboard autoinstaller? I can find evoX and other dashboards, but not the official microsoft one... And does anybody by any chance now in which format the music is stored? And on which drive etc...?

What you need is the full autoinstaller that is in our VIP section. Quick tip, if you click on the Slayers Autoinsaller...it will now take you to the new autoinstaller.
On that autoinstaller is a way to install the MS Dash. Before you do so, realize that xbox just came out with a new dash version for 1.4 Xbox's with the Phillips Drive, 1.5's ans 1.6's in general. If you try to install the MS Dash off of the autoinstaller you will get error code 13. So here is your choices for now.
A: you can connect your retail HD to your upgraded HD and set the retail as master and the upgrade as slave. Then transfer all of the data from the retail to the upgrade. Disco the retail and swtich the upgrade to Master. Then you will have the new MS Dash and then just use the autoinstaller for the rest of the files!
Or, you can wait until I get the proper files uploaded to the VIP download section so you have something to overwrite the MS Dash that won't work.
I'm waiting as we speak for somone to send to me.

Thanks. I haven't got a harddisk upgrade - just a basic xbox with a modchip. I'm not really into the technical lingo, but do you mind writing in here to let me now when I can get that thingy that'll sort out my problem?

Youll have to signup as a VIP and send in your xboxhq username so you account can be upgraded.. Once its upgraded you can dowload what you need..
