Hi. I have done several softmods using the splinter cell exploit from the '10-minute mod' tutorial. So far everything has gone ok....but I have a few questions.
1). When you back up the stuff, what drive do you back it up to? C or E?
2). Can I upgrade the softmod to the verion 3? I have the autoinstaller disk. If so how? Thanks in advance.
3) Some xboxs I have modded do not play certain games, while others play them all(burned games). Any clue to why this is and how to correct it?
Thanks alot. You people are the friendliest guys on the web. !

Hi mate,
I'm pretty sure most softmods backup to E:\Backup\MS, E:\Backup\Mod etc.
Upgrading the softmod with AID3 should be quite easy, just pop the disc in, select 'install softmod' from the main menu, then 'install SID3.1' and follow the promts.
Make sure you install a dash in the root of the C:\ drive after the softmod, and BEFORE rebooting, otherwise it will screw up
The problem with some games playing and some not could be media related. Have you been using the same brand\type of DVD/CD each time?
Some xboxes are quite fussy, so find a disc that you know works, then
burn the game that didn't work to this type of disc.

It is probably due to different drives in different xboxes, this would be related to the media problem stated above, but with a little more information, without opening the xbox, you can look and see what drive the xbox has by following the diagram below. This shows how the holes in the drives look, so the grey part is the whole.
The compatibility moves from the left to right in less to more compatible.
Thomson is least, philips is decent, and samsung is the best compatible drive.
