i have a question i have to xboxs one is softmodded used sid3, and the other one is a virgin. the virgin box has a kernel/bios problem causing it to boot three times and then it blinks red/green, it has no video and no sound, but i leave it sit for a day or two it boot normally, i need to know is there a way to replace the original bios on the xbox so it will stop fragging and so i can still play games, i tried just softmodding it using sid3 but after installing the softmod and installing the evox dash, and rebooting the box it still fragged and i had to let it sit for a day

How long does the "fragbox" usually run before dying out? Sounds like you might have a cooling issue. If the fan's gone, you might be able to replace the fan on the box. Does the box cut out while it's running? Then when you try and boot again it frags? If that's what it's doing, it's definitely a cooling issue.
Try this:
Boot the box (fragging or not) and put your hand behind the case close to the fan. If you don't feel any air blowing out, it's the case fan (I have one I can give you, I just ask you pay shipping). If that fan's working, try opening the case, lift the HDD out (pull the power cord out, life the case and tray by removing the cable from the "clips" on the side, set the HDD comfortably on top of the DVD ROM and plug in the hDD power cable ((leaving the IDE cable in as well))) Then boot up. If the heat sing on the right has a fan and it's not spinning, check the power cable, make sure it's not loose.
If the cords for both fans are tight, but still not spinning, let me know, and I'll get you these fans ASAP. I'll check on Shipping prices in a bit, but it shouldn't be more than 5 bucks... I hope. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

i had thought originaly the same thing, so i checked the fans they are fine. i took the hard drive and put it on top of the dvd drve and turn it on it still fraggs.
i even put in some fans i had left over from my pc when i rebuilt it. i even uped the fan speed to 100% velocity using the softmod.
it cooled down to 108 degrees F
nut when i turn it off it boots three times and frags i have to leave it for a day again cuz if i leave it for a hour or two it will frag.

Well, if you're really worried about using the M$ bios. you can do one of two things. You can do a TSOP flash.
Here's a pretty good tutorial for doing a muiltibios TSOP, which essentially gets you a great modchip. You can flash one side with the Microsoft Bios and the other bank with x2_5035 (My bios of choice, it's just badass):
http://xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-live-1mb.php
Check that out, if you're not comfortable with all the soldering, post in the classified section that you need someone to TSOP your box. Make sure that you deal with a VIP member, admin, or someone who's been here for a long time and has at least a few hundred posts.
WARNING about TSOP flashing. Unless you're feeling comfortable with soldering, you can completely, COMPLETELY frag your box. Please do so at your own risk. (Oh, and where the tutorial mentions slayer's you can use AID 3.0's bios flashing package that you add on.) _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

yes, you can install just one bios. If you do one bios, I don't think you even need the switch. But just follow the directions to the T just to be sure that you don't mess anything up. What's the harm in having two bioses the more the merrier (and you can still hop on live ) _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

another question? if i dont install the switch then all i have to do is the soldering of the jumpers right? also i am having alittle trouble finding the jumpers that are on the back of the board.
also i need some conformation about the tut. the jumpers near the lpc do i solder these together. or what do i do. cuz thats what i understood from the tut. if you can get a hold of some pic of the board and what it looks like when it is finished i think i may be able to figure it out.
