i'll be more than happy to help you out, but it has to be here on forums so other's can see what the deal is.
first specify what error code you get (top left white numbers) and the colors it frags(order), also tell us more about the softmod installer you used for this, and how long ago did you get it, and what kind of stuff did you do to get it to do this.
the more info you give, the easier it is for us to help you out. _________________ Xbox v1.1

we need more info.
If you havea modchip installed and fitted download AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE (http://www.aideluxe.com) and burn it to a dvd-r/cdrw and boot it.. You can reinstall dashbaords and missing files from there.
If you have a softmod you need to redo the softmod or do a hotswap tutorial.. There are plenty of things to read in our XBOX TUTORIALS section here:

Ew man my bad havne't gotten back to this for a while...Okay nothing serioulsy should be wrong with it...all it says when i turn it on is the following "
Call serviver provider,, then in of course 8 different languages, the top number says 16* dunno what that means...but like all i have done was use ftp to delete some stuff....nothing with my xbox.

Yes, you can return it to retail, and no, it's not dangerous. You just need to be careful because, you have two computers(PC and XBox) open and running, with wires going between them! It wouldn't be hard for something to go wrong so, make sure that you have a good work area with a little more room than you actually need.
It can be a bit frustraiting to do a Hotswap, but don't give up though. The rewards are MONITARY!!!(i.e. you don't have to PAY someone to fix your XBox.) _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

i have a question that kind of relates to this..
if i have a backup of my eeprom on my xboxhdm cd, can i use it to unlock my hd on my computer without hotswapping?
and, if i do have to hotswap it, why?
i thought that if you had the eeprom backup, you never had to hotswap.
sorry for the questions, but i've heard alot of different answers for this elsewhere, and figured id ask the pros!!
thanks again.

First, KYram04, I would suggest trying to boot the game that you used to originally softmod your xbox, be it mechassault, splinter cell, or 007. You may be able to just rerun the softmod process and be back where you were, just hit the eject button, and pop the game in and close the drive, if it errors, just turn it back on with the game now in it.
If this does not work, then you will need to hotswap, the theory behind hotswapping is getting the xbox to unlock the hard drive, then using your pc to access the data on it without ever cutting off the power. Firstly just try booting the game, then we can go from there.
kopyone, you are correct in this case, so long as the backup of the eeprom is a good copy, you can use xboxhdm to generate the hdd unlock code, and you will not have to hot swap. _________________
