Hi There,

I'm very interested in using SID to mod my XBox, but dont have a memory card

Is it possible to run SID3 using hotswap?

I have already modded my box with UXE ltools, and its a pile of crap (can't FTP anything) so I want to replace it

Thanks !

I'm downloading AID now, will it boot in my XBox then seeing as it is modded?

I guess if it boots, then I can do everything I need to with regard formatting/installing a new exploit and dashboard then?

I only double posted so that AID/SID stuff was in the right forum, sorry about that....

Cheers,

DG

first thought is to make sure that the media you are burning to works with your xbox dvd-rom drive. If you know that it does, go ahead and burn it. depending upon what program you use (i like nero the best as it is straight forward, yet gives you the choices you need compared to other programs) but if you are using nero, do this:

Run Nero
Close all the 'new compilation' boxes so that you are on the main screen of Nero.
Click Recorder -> Burn Image -> Select the aid.iso file
Choose DVD, Disc at once, finalize, and i know this i a pain in the ass, but burn at the slowest speed.

also, if you already have a modded box, this will run fine... if it is hard modded, then you dont even need to worry about SID as thats a softmod utility. But if your xbox is softmodded, and you dont care about the dash files on there already, your good.

Thanks for that info

First, I tried CDR, and from the table in the AID manual, it seems my DVD player may not fully support it

So I tried DVD+RW, which I'm pretty sure works, as I burnt a copy of a game to DVD+RW and it booted fine, although it did throw up errors about the disk being damaged

This AID disk however doesnt even throw up any errors, just boots straight to EVOX

Any further thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? I did burn the image exactly as you said, on the slowest speed

Would anyone be able to advise how I might go about replacing my dash via hotswapping the HDD in my PC? I think I can do this ok, I'm just not sure what files I should copy and to where

Thanks

Did you configure EvoX to automaticly run DVD's?
What happens if you try to access the DVD(or CD) from EvoX?

Yes, EVOX should boot DVD's. In fact, if I put my backup game in, it boots fine, from cold boot, or when EVOX is running

However, I've attached the XBox to the DVD drive in my PC, and now AID boots fine, so I will have a read through the tutorials and see what I can figure out. I'll no doubt be back in this thread soon enough.... Wink

Thanks for the help !

Hi again,

That was quick wasnt it !

I've tried various operations, but seem to get errors whenever I actually try to do anything on the hard drive

If I attempt a backup (I already have one on my PC BTW) I get unzip failed errors, and if I format C and E, then try to install a dashboard, I get "Error code 1117" as the first file is copied

Any ideas?

Is it worth me popping a new hard drive in and trying to build an install on a blank hard drive?

Cheers !

Well, whatever file operations I tried on the retail XBox HDD is throwing up errors, so if I backup or copy anything, I get unzip failed or 1117 error codes

So I tried formatting the paritions and loading a dashboard from scratch, but I get the same errors

I was thinking of adding a larger HDD at some point, so perhaps now is a good time to do that?

Unless you can think of why I might be getting those errors? Do you think perhaps I'm getting some errors with the HDD becoming locked/unlocked

Thanks
