I'm planning to put a big 250 GB harddisk in my xbox and fill it with emulators, roms, games, movies etc. I was wondering if it's better to wait a bit more for the next version of aid or just go ahead and use version 2.1 and upgrade to 3 later (if this can be done?).

Could someone advice me on this?

you can use 2.1 now and update to version 3 later with no problem
