Hello everyone!!! Great place you guys have here!!
I've been reading and reading but still have a few questions. I'm super new at this and just got my first xbox to play and learn with........be kind
System= V1 with x2, 80g hdd, evox as the dash.
problem= First off, Is a red light around the eject button a normal thing with modded boxes?? Only flashes green when inserting a disk then back to red.
Frezzing issues= M$ dashboard, a few games off the hdd, original game (Fable) freezes at the the intro as soon as I push any buttons on the controller. Copied Fable to hdd and it still freezes when a button pressed.
I try to turn IGR off at evox conf but it only shows in 1 place, is this command hidden somewhere else? could this be the reason?
Bios shows as unknown...weird??
Please take a minute to help me.....it will be greatly appreciated!!
TIA,
Shark.

We don't tend to bite unless provoked by stupidity and quite frankly, your questions aren't stupid and your attitude doesn't suck.
So, laundry list, lets see how well ol' Shark can do here.
So you have a V1.0, join the club. You like Sharks, join the club.
The red light around the eject button is most likely controlled either inside the software that came installed on the X2 or the dashboard. You should be able to change it in setup.
The freezing problem may be due to the bios used. You might try running on my old faithful X2 below in my sig. Also as previously stated in the above post, try clearing the cache.
The IGR is also controlled by the bios. My old faithful does that too.
Any idea what bios you have chosen? The M8 requires the proper Xbox, some are V1.0-1.5 and another is 1.6 _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

The unknown via Evox means that the bios came out after the Evox was published. Most likely the M8 which does not support IGR. Was the box premodded for you? Can you contact the seller and see what bios might have been loaded? Based on the fear factor, I must assume that you didn't install the bios yourself. Friend perhaps? Anyway, take the easy route first and try rabid1's suggestion, if that fails we can tackle attempting to find out what bios you have. Any idea on the hdd size by chance? 8 gig or bigger?
Another thought, Evox might have in the programs Xplorer (I think it's called) that allows you to see individual drives, that would allow you to easily clear your cache on E. Be careful though, it can sh*tcan other stuff too.
Wish you had a Xenium, ol' Rabid1 is the Xenium God and can make your Xenium part the red sea and walk on water. I can only make it flood your bathtub. hehehe
Be sure to have fun on the forums, it makes modding a whole new world even after the xbox is finished. Very cool people here. Me excluded. Just ask Enigma... muahhhhh _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Thank you Sir!
Here the story:
Bought the unit from a guy at another forum. Came with a 80 gig hdd. I sent him a message to get the bios version from him.
Last night ai keept playing with the xbox, looking thru the settings and what not. The darn unit keeps freezing on me but managed to get a little info...I think.
While looking thru xbmc I managed to see a bios that said something like m7, then I went to E>cache but it froze while trying to clean it......what a PITA!!!!
I'm afraid I may end up sending it out somewhere to get it working right, I'm willing to learn but not screw it up...lol
I love the teasing Xenium comments...........I need a hook up!! My box needs an overhaul!!
Thanks again for staying with me!

We joke a lot here because it's a forum about modding but about friendships too. Everyone here has strengths (shortacid excluded) and we enjoy letting one or another use that to help those that need it.
Off soap box
M7 is possible and would explain the unknown Evox response about the bios.
If you need a professional modder to intervene, may I recommend Da-goat here on the forums. Top notch dude that I vouch for personally (might not mean much, but sounds cool to say from time to time).
You might try obtaining our Auto installer first and see what it can do to help you mod the box back up without spending any bucks or being without your xbox for a short time too. It has many of the bioses and also can format all drives the way you need it then install any dash you want. It's a miracle of evolution really. If the auto installer was edible, it would practically be it's own food group. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I'm completely with you about the friendship thing, I belong to quite a few different forums on a variety of subjects and have made the best of friends thru them.
Realistically speaking.........is it really possible for a complete newbie to xbox, like myself, to figure out and correct a freezing issue that I have no idea as too what's causing it?
About the Auto Installer, I have been trying!! so many options and ways to get it and I can't figure a single way out....LOL@Myself!
I need to focus and put together a learning plan, there's just so much info it can be a bit overwhelming.
Thanks for the ref for Da-goat, I certainly will keep that in mind if the time comes!
Shark.
BTW, sorry, my avatar looks so much like yours.......I've been using it elsewhere for at least a couple years

So you have the 4981.06 and not an M7 or perhaps the M7 is the 4981. Anyway, yes you can indeed fix a freezing issue. You have all the tools, we are willing to share the knowledge and what have ya got to lose? There's hardly anything you can do that we can't get out from under and if the need is there, Da-goat is aware of this thread and the issues.
Come on, give it a try and lets see if we have a Christmas miracle. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Woah!! I've been busy!!!
ok......Bios it's indeed Xecuter 4981.06
It took all night but AID was dl'ded, burned on a dvd+r and it boots perfectly!!! the way the updater makes the iso with the dummy file and everything it's genius!! Props to the creators.
now, Considering what my issues are, where should I start?? Bios? dash? applications??
My eyes are bleeding from so much reading but having the AID dvd has made it all worth it. Now....what's my next move.
Let's make this a X-mas happy ending _________________ V1.0

if you have no useful info you wish to save, just pop in the AID dvd and reformat the entire hard drive, then install the MS dash, then install another hacked dash of your choice (i recommend XBMC myself). From there, you should be good to go as far as booting. You can also install the the regular apps (dvd2xbox, dvdx, etc...)
have fun with that!
lol

Thanks for the input da-goat!!
I was hoping I could try a couple things before doing the entire hdd, I guess ftp it's the next study section for me as I do want to back up some things off the drive first.
I still haven't cleared E>cache, I just can't seem to be able to do it, I'll try the AID file manager to se if I can do it that way.
Can I re-install the applications, dash, etc from AID and just overwritte the old?
Oh, one last thing......I'm now sure I have an Xecuter2 bios and +3935 dash, any known issues with this conf?
Thanks a bunch guys, sometimes I just need a little push in the right direction or I just continue hopelessly reading.... _________________ V1.0
