Hi,
Just got myself a nice 250GB HD for $60 after rebate at CompUSA.
I want to install a modchip and decided to go with the Xecutr. I have a few questions.
What is the difference between the Xecuter3 and the Xecuter3 CE ?
I would like to install it solderless and also instal the X3 Control Panel but I cannot find a place that sells all the components I need. An Xecuter 3 or 3CE, and Xapt3r and the control panel (front panel with LCD and switches).
Can anyone recommand a good US reseller ?
My XBOX is Ver 1.0 I believe. I bought it in June 2002.
Thanks,
zoti

The X3CE is the latest/newest version of the X3 chip.

http://www.modchip.ca/store/home.php may have what you need, but I'm not sure coz im in Oz. Otherwise have a look at Official Xecuter stores on http://www.teamxecuter.com/. Just shop around a little, I'm sure you will find what you need

You might want to contact Da-goat. He can even install the chip for you if you want. _________________

OK got it. Go with the X3 CE then.
One more question. Is the Control Panel really worth the extra investment ? I tried to find info but couldn't understand what the front USB ports are for.
Thanks,

Shark,
I DL and read the installation guide for the Xenium. I like the installation process. Seems easier than the Xecuter.
What exactly is your recomandation for a Xenium mod chip ? Go with the ICE ? Do they have a front panel or is it not realy worth investing in ?
What is the difference between the ICE and SPICE ? I have a Ver 1.0 or 1.1 XBOX.
The more I read about this chip the more I like it and I think I can skip the front panel thing.
Thanks,
zoti

The Xenium Ice has no front panel. It is very painless to install. The difference between the ice and the spice is just accessories. They both are the same chip, only one comes with the solderless adapter and an lpc rebuild which is only used for the 1.6 xbox. All you need is the chip and the solderless adapter, but you can buy the spice and just throw away the rebuild lpc kit.
If you like the front panel thing, you can add an lcd to the xenium. I myself have not done it, but all you need is a spi2par adapter and you can add any parrallel lcd which you can get for like 15 bucks now. Of course, you would have to cut out and mount the lcd.

How easy is it to disable the Xenium modchip so I can log on to XBOX Live ?
Can you recommand a good reseller in the US ? Preferebly in TX.

Extremely easy. you can set it up so when you turn on ur xbox with the power button, it goes without the hacked bios (for xbox live). Than a start up with the eject button gets you to the xenium os where you can select your hacked bios for all the real fun.
You can go even further which I did and have it so it has a timed delay where you can select which bios without going into the xenium os by simply pressing a button during the startup. (its really a great chip)

Xeniums are nice for the fact that they come pre-flashed with a rather inovative OS. The only downside really is that they dont make many 'no tools required' add-ons like the X3 with the Control Panel. They are both really good chips, but if you are a beginner, and want to add cool things like LCDs and Infa Red ports, i would go with the Xectuer.
If you are doing solderless installs, there is vertually no difference in the installation. (just get the solderless adaptor mounted good and your good to go. you can even switch between the two chips).
Its really just a matter of for the money now, how much will it cost later when you want to add cool case mods.
hope that helps...

Thanks guys.
I have decided to go with the Xenium solderless. I like the ease of installation and the tools that come with it better.
I ordered mine from modchipsource.com. Hopfully it will be here soon and I will install it along with XBMP and some DVD ripping tool to backup all my games to the HD so I won't have to hassle with the DVDs.
