Hi guys, I just formatted my new 160gb hdd and can connect to it using FlashFXP and see all the partitions it created. I'm trying to move my backed up c: and e: drives to it from my PC.
The problem is that I can't transfer any file whatsoever. Everytime I attempt this I get a 'Transfer Failed!' message from FlashFXP. If I put my original HDD in I can transfer files no problem but I can't do anything with the new hdd. It's like the new drive is in read only mode or something.
I followed the HDD swapping instructions and double checked all my steps to make sure I didn't make a mistake and it looks correct to me. According to the instructions all I need to do is copy over my backed up c: and e: drives and I'm good to go. I searched through the forums to see if I could find anything but I can't.
Can somebody please help me save my sanity and let me know what I need to do to get this working? Thanks.

This isn't really a fix, but a workaround, could you copy your backups to a dvd then put that in and copy them over?

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work either. It's as if the HDD is in read-only mode so no matter where the files come from I can't write to the HDD.
This is driving me insane! According to the docs all I have to do is copy over my backup drives and all should be well. Did I miss a step with the HDD in order to be able to write to it? Has anybody had this happen to them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm totally stumped.

Thats ood, but if the drives are empty, could you set them up again using the Auto Installer Deluxe? I just popped in a new hard drive, and using that, I had no problems getting things up and running.

I threw in a Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 160 gb (ST3160023a). Sorry I should probably put that in my signature.
I checked the compatibility guide and it says that it's lockable. I don't think locking/unlocking has to do with actually writing to the drive though. From what I understand locking/unlocking is for playing xbox live.
This is what leads me to believe I've probably missed a step somewhere along the way but I can't find what it is according to what I've read/done.

Yeah...here's what I did:
1.Backup c and e partitions from my original xbox hdd to my PC using FlashFXP
2.Create boot disk with all information I need to format/ftp
3.Remove original hdd
4.Install new hdd
5.Insert boot disk to xbox and format new hdd
6.Hook xbox up to my network and connect via FlashFXP on my PC (I can see all partitions the format created)
7.Attempt to write my backed up c and e drives from PC to xbox and that's where I get the problem where I can't write to the drive.
I figure once I've got the backups copied from PC to the new drive then it should work fine but the problem is I can't put a single file on that new drive for some reason. I put the old hdd in to test file transfers and it works ok. I wonder if it's something to do with the ini file I created on my boot disk but I have no clue as the ini script looks accurate, it says it formatted ok and I can see all the partitions.

Just thought I should come back and post my findings. As it turns out, the HDD I was using was locked from another xbox. That xbox was discarded (along with the serial number needed to unlock the HDD). Because the HDD was locked I was unable to write to it. I ended up getting another HDD and everything worked as it should. Thanks to those for offering suggestions. Now I just need to figure out if there's a way to unlock the HDD without the serial number Later
