My hard drive backups of Call of Cthulhu and Castlevania CoD work just fine. However, when I try to run the DVD backups of these games, I have problems.

Call of Cthulhu:

Won't load off DVD at all. When Xbox is booted with DVD in tray, the system just displays the Xbox logo with M$ logo underneath. That's all that happens. If the DVD is loaded after my dash has booted (EvoX), the loading screen just sits there. That's all that happens.

Castlevania CoD:

First had problems making direct ISO backup using CXboxTool. The program kept giving me a "Range Error" when it was copying a certain file via ftp (file called /data/lua/test.lua . So I had to ftp to the xbox another way, copy the contents of the original game to my computer hard drive and create the iso that way. However, once on a DVD as a backup, the video and sound mess up during the opening movie or I get a random error that "This disc is dirty or damaged."

The originals of these games work fine and I have tried two different DVD backups of both with the same results. Do I need a ppf patch or something? Can someone give me some help? Thank you!

ive never tried to backup myself but im sure someone here would hve.. Hopefully they will reply with some info..

The only way i would do it would be to use COMPLEX TOOLS to re-rip your original again or even better DVD2XBOX if it works.. Give them both a try..

Change your iso creating program on your pc too.. try cxboxtool, quix (qwix) or others.. Just trial and error..

Always burn your backup dvd at the slowest speed too.

good luck with it and hope someone else has your info.

I got the Cthulhu backup to work flawlessly by using Craxtion4 (was using CXboxTool before). I ripped the original to the hard drive using Craxtion4 and then created an ISO using Craxtion4. I burned that image to a DVD and this backup disc now works! For Castlevania, I followed the same procedure and the disc works but only until you reach a certain chamber in the castle, then it freezes up like before. Anyway, I am happy with the results using Craxtion4 and I will probably stick with this utility. Thx FH

UPDATE on the Castlevania backup. I went through about 3 DVD-R's until I tried a DVD+R (the first +R I've ever used for a backup) and the game runs FLAWLESSLY off of it! So, I fixed the DVD backup problem on Castlevania:Curse of Darkness by switching to DVD + R!! Strange how it works, but it does, so it's all good (*snaps fingers back&forth 3 times in front of self*)
