Both of those recommendations should have worked (boot from backup BIOS by pushing power/eject at same time, or booting from bank 5,6,7, and you should have seen the flash BIOS show up (with no disk in the drive). Are you CERTAIN that your X3 CE is properly installed? If it is a brand new mod, you may have had a wire pop loose or something and that is the problem (not a problem with the bios, etc). I would recommend rechecking all the hard wire stuff...

You don't HAVE to install them, but if you DO NOT, then you can't switch to booting from bank 5,6,7,8 and it won't interpret the power/eject at the same time button push to request a boot from the backup OS. Grin, I guess things are making a little more sense now.
Here is a good write up on installing the X3 CE (and at the end it details installing those additional pieces as well as the bank controls and stuff).
Install those parts and you should be good to go...Cheers! No life in prison for you!

Well man I don't know if this will help you out but this is what has happened for me when I have had to install a new bios....I have never converted the file to an iso....i have always left it as a bin file....maybe that is what went wrong with trying to find it at least....also, you gotta make sure you have the right bios size for your chip...i haven't used the x3 but you gotta check to see if its 256k, 512k, or 1mb and the get the correct m8+16 bios that corresponds to it...also if you plan on putting in a larger hdd then make sure you get the bios with lba48 support (will either say lba48 at the end or 137+, something along those lines) if you installed aid 2.11 there is a bios section after you extract the stuff which was put together very well so you dont have to mess with downloading a possibly corrupt file...hope this helps some...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Follow that guide to install the switches and the power/eject switch inline connector (if you can ever get the link to work), and it shows you how to set the DIP switch settings to boot from that bank. Basically, you had it right in your first email: booting from bank 5678: off,on,off, off
That should put you back to booting into a "flash bios". Or, you just push and hold power and eject at same time to boot from backup and try to flash bank 1234...again, you MUST put those other pieces in though...grin.

Hum...something isn't plugged in right then, if the power button isn't working. You need to get that worked out, first. Then, you should be able to press POWER and EJECT at the same time and boot to a backup BIOS. You have to get the power button working with those additional components, though.
Don't see how you would be able to fix this with FTP...
