hey guys,
i have searched forums and articals that applied to this situation and so far none of them have been of any help. I have successfully softmodded several boxes, so my friend came to me with his box and a desperate need of help. I had modded his box earlier with unleashx, and he was stupid and formated all the drives in the format drive menu(error 13 now). i tried to reload the ms board update off fable, but when i select signup new account it just reboots the xbox. i tried to remod it, but the e drive was fomated and the exploit was deleted. i cant access the dashboard to copy the exploit, and my AID wont load in his box (error 13). i need to fix this box, but all error 13 tuts say use fable, or aid. i cant ftp because it only loads games. is there another place you can ftp from? can anyone help me? it would be so appreciated!

i have the same proble man. i stupidly deleted my dash and somehow, while ftping it, screwed it up worse so i need to know too. i hope there is a way. anyone got a solution? o and i cant get the Auto Installer to work is there a tutorial for COMPLETE noobs from start to finish?

You have two options. Use a chip to get into the HDD (pop the chip in, FTP in, and copy a workin HDD structure from another Xbox). Or, do a hotswap. either way, you'll need a chip. If you want cheap to do basic stuff, the Aladdin XT is like 20 bucks, and it's now sodderless (I beleive) and I think it has Live Support. never read this tut but you can use xbl gamertags from a memory card,
I think that it only works from an official memory card though (my gameter thing doesn`t work.

i was under the impression that to hotswap u didnt need u chip

For anyone stuck with error 13 and 16 and maybe others, use pirrup hotswap tut, I foked up my xbox trying to softmod and the only solution was the hotsawp, its easy and works
PS: take my advice and if you are using the Mech save exploit, DONT reboot the xbox after installing the dashboard without leaving a copy of the save in the HD. why? beacuse if the installation fails you are stuck because Mechassult cant load a save from the Memory Unit/Flash Pen and you have no other way to copy the save to the HD without a working Dash...

I'll second that one. DO NOT remove the save game from the HDD EVER, EVER, EVER. It simply doesn't take enough space up to justify it, and it is a good way to make it difficult to recover from a corrupt install, or even 6 months down the road when some new game installs a new dash over the top of your softmod...
