I've seen quite alot of Xbox Controller to USB Adapters making it possible to use the Xbox Controller on a PC. That must mean that Windows recognizes the Gamepad as an USB Device.
Now I'm wondering, what if the controller was a Memory Unit plugged into it. Will Windows recognize it too? Maybe even enable me to manipulate the content of that Memory Unit? If so it would be a great alternative to buying the Action Replay software + docking station in order to trasnfer the exploit samegames neccessary for the softmod onto the memory unit.
Has anybody tried this or knows if it might work?

Hehe, I dont really know what you are telling me
You used your camera to softmod your box? That would be cool, but I already got a Memory Unit, so that wouldnt be my choice.
Or did you mean that you used the camera to connect it to the Memory Unit/Controller? Prolly not, because that sounds crazy
Just wanted to know if Windows recognizes the Memory Unit when you connect the controller to your PC, since you have that adapter could you be so kind to jsut try it? That would be incredibly nice of you and maybe I'm not the only one who wonders about it (but you can do it just for me too )
But its not that important, I also have the theoretical option to use a modded box to tranfer the data... I was just curious about it...
Thanx for your reply

Hi,
Yes the controller to USB lead will work to transfer the game saves to the memory card.
I have just done my v1.6x xbox by this method.
Also u will need USBview software to dectect the controller / memory card so that you can add the memory card signiture to your action replay software drivers.
I used Splinter Cell exploits and the original game disc with SID 3.0 and AID 2.11 final - it worked like a dream. Thanks to help from people on the forum !
Look in the softmod discussion area and in soft mod installer area and u will find all the info.
Good luck !! _________________
hey thats sweet, should make sure DJB gets that method added in to the SID manual Xbox controller-to-USB adapter must be cheaper then getting an Action Replay. is there a site that sells them? or have people just made their own? i know alot of people make the USB-to-Xbox themselves for hooking up a USB memory stick to the xbox but that still requires a USB thumbdrive.

Hi,
These controller to PC usb leads are available at least they are in the UK.
I can give details of someone reliable on eBay in the UK who sells them for £6.99 inc postage and delivery is normally next day.
PM me for thier eBay 'username'. _________________

It's not that hard to Ghetto rig a connector on a spare breakaway cable. I did mine with a junk controller's breakaway cable and a USB cable I got from Comcast. Thos F00KERS... Anywho, there's a site that will let you use the memory slots on the controller, because essentially, the controller's just one big USB Hub.
This guy put together a WONDERFUL site with all the nessecary Windows drivers and guides to mod, and use your controller in ways you never though possible... Hell, if you have the Karaoke mic, you can hook that up too... Or the XBLIve headset... IT'S SICK!
I support this guy, FULLY. His drivers have never failed me, not in the past 7 months. Check him out, guys. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

That site sells the adaptors, and they do work great, I tried using a cheap Yobo brand controller to make my own with the breakaway, but for some reason, it didn't work..... I'm thinking prolly cause the color coding of the wires isn't the same as MS's color code. I was just too scared to use one of my good controllers.
