I am baned from Xbox Live for good so i need a cheap mod chip that is good mod chip that is easy to install and solderless.Any ideas or links? _________________ If I could play Xbox Live I would be a sniper

However, if you are buying a new Xbox you will be getting a 1.6 machine. Because of that, you may want to spend some extra money and get a Xenium ice and also buy an LPC rebuild board (49.00 chip, 8.00 rebuild board) or you can buy a SmartXX V2 for around $55.00 which includes a rebuild board.
Dont go solderless, either learn to solder if you don't...or get someone to install the chip.

Mod chip and AID v2 will fix your problems. Install and flash the chip. Use AID to install M$ dashboard or another one of your liking. _________________ Xbox v1.3

I wish there was a way I could have a permanent copy and paste of the phrase, "Get a chip and AID 2.0, your problems will be solved". I would be albe to answer 45% of all sofmod issue posts with a simple CNTRL-V

Mod chips are not necessarily for complete noobs. You have to know what you are doing or like a softmod you could make a piece of hardware completely useless.
Flash = Electronically Erase and Write to the onboard bios contained on the modchip pcb (printed circuit board). You would electronically write a bios to this (Basic Instruction Operation Set, Basic Input Out System, I can never remember).
Anyways, They come in varying flavors 256k 512k 1024k and 2048k. (1/4 mb 1/2 mb 1 mb 2 mb. )
The only bios you will have flashed to a chip is a legal bios, ie. Cromwell- a linux variant. This is usually a flashing utility or a complete os with commands depending on the chip. You would from there flash a "hacked" M$ bios ( from the xbox), but this bios is designed to play unsigned code. Namely the xbox executable .xbe The hacked bios is a legal issue for any chip reseller, so no they will not flash it for you.
This allows for complete control of the xbox. Anywhere from playing back ups to running a full linux distro.
A modchip is the stepping stone that gets you across the pond, but you have to get applications to allow you to do all these different actions.
The only thing truly considered to seperate the noobs from the pros is soldering.
(Some solderless guys will yell at me ) but its for the easiest install, go solderless.
If you are confident of your soldering skills, go soldered. Its better.
The software after that point is truly point and click, very easy. It just takes time getting the feel for the box and what it can do.
So for the mod chip, a recommendation for a true noob would not to be an X3, for they have the most install problems, but have the best 1st party accessories, and in my opinion best M$ bios package. It doesn't have the cromwell os, exept for Flashbios, but its a beautiful chip..
A little worried about the LFrame on the 1.6 though, I use my box way too much. But thats something for another day.

I like your mind frame, same with me, get a chip... I worry about frying the HDD during Pirrup's Hotsawp method. I have fried a dvd drive adding the ide , that was fun, i did SOMETHIng wrong..
