I am using a Linksys Wireless B broadband router to connect both my PC and my XBox(v 1.6) to my DSL Modem. It works fine as far as my internet and XBox live connections are concerned. Now I am trying to use FlashFXP to transfer files from my PC to XBox. I don't have a mod chip and I don't have Evolution X. I have been trying for about 20 hours now to download Slayer's Evox 2.6 to make this work. I have read every forum and joined many of them. When I went on the Slayer's IRC channel I got kicked after about one minute and I'm not sure why. Nobody has responded to my inquiries there. After many failed attempts I finally found a place where I could download Evox 2.6 using Bit Torrent. And After about a four hour download, which I thought would give me a useable EXE file, I ended up with a 158 MB torrent file. If I click on it, my computer goes crazy for about 20 minutes, tries to download the program again and then gives an error message. I have this 158 MB SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_v(1).6FINAL.tor file but I have no idea what to do with it. I though it was supposed to be a .exe or something that I could extract an ISO from to burn to a CD-RW. That's what I've been reading anyways. If I could have just bought this program on CD I'd have been glad to pay a whole lot more than it's worth just to avoid these headaches. All I want to be able to do is transfer my WMA+G karaoke files into the XBox music mixer and install mods for Morrowind. My XBox and PC are sharing the online connection through my router just fine but I haven't been able to get a connection with Flash FXP. So here are a few questions 1) Do I need Evox v2.6to do this? 2) Would Evox 2.5 work? (I see that this site doesn't reccommend 2.5) 3) Is there another program I should try instead? 4) Is there anything I can do with this 158 MB torrent file?
I'm a bit of a Noob to this, but I know exactly what I need to do once I get an FTP connection. I think I just need to figure out how to get Evox 2.6 onto my XBox (or onto my PC if this file I downloaded is useless). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

what dashboard are you currently using? is your router set to DHCP? is your dashboard set to DHCP so that it gets itself a IP instead of you assigning a static one?

oo and as for the torrent, you need a bittorrent client to use it. i use Azureus. but your download speeds appear to suck if it took you 4 hours to download the .torrent. i suggest buying the Autinstaller Deluxe from bcossette if your download speeds are that bad, and you want a goodinstaller.

I would post but theres not Punctuation!
Well done "funkydopeloven" you actually read it!!
My download speed doesn't suck at all. High speed DSL 1.2 Mbps or something like that. Normally I could have downloaded a file that size in a matter of minutes. I have no idea why Bit Torrent took so long. I haven't been able to find any useful information on downloading with torrents.
What dashboard am I using? I don't know. Possibly none. All I have right now is XBox V1.6 and a linksys router. What dashboard do I want to use?
And how do I set my router and dashboard to DHCP?
I've read hundereds of pages on these topics in the last couple of days.
Most of it seems to contradict what other people say. And most people are trying to do things a lot more complex than I am trying to do. I am just looking for the easiest way to use a router to transfer files from my PC to XBox.

ok lets start at the beginning. is your Xbox modded? you have to have a modded Xbox to ftp into it
No. It's not modded. But everything else I've read has said that it doesn't have to be. By modded, do you mean having a mod chip installed? Because I know I don't need that.

you need either a softmodded xbox, a TSOP flashed Xbox, or a modchip to transfer anythign via ftp
Well I guess soft modding my Xbox is what I am trying to do. So what software do I need to install on my Xbox to accomplish this? Is it just Slayer's Evox 2.6 or are there more programs that I need to find?

for ease i suggest the SoftMod Installer Deluxe, but you will require some other hardware aswell. either a modded xbox and a memory card, a USB adaptor and a USB thumb drive, or an action replay. you will also require an ORIGINAL copy (no platinum or greatest hits) of MechAssualt, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, or 007. these are requirements for a softmod.
