my mate has softmodded his xbox using the sid files from this site,he has a crystal machine with the latest microsoft dash ( 5960 i think ). i have an older machine and was wondering if once i have softmodded it i could ftp his machine and copy his dash files to my pc the copy them over to my xbox to update my dash or is there something in the bios that will need to be updated as well???? he says that he never touched the bios but had to patch the ms bios after the soft mod to access it from the evox menu system.

I believe you could FTP your friends Xbox but Y ???? After you softmod your xbox use the AID and install the dash of ur choice then patch it with the AID. (Auto Installer Deluxe)

Thanks for the reply i did try using a.i.d but got an error on rebooting xbox,managed to retreive it.cant remember what code i got but it was accompanied with the " your xbox requires a service " messsage and lots of writing in different languages??
have now got evox installed but ms dash option is not available,tried to patch it using the s.i.d but got service screen again!! any ideas ??
Only want to update dash to newest one cos i have read that some games update the dash and could cause problems
