I have decided for several reasons (one of which is that I have a v1.5 xbox not 1.0 or 1.1) that I want to use an Xecuter modchip (I'm going to buy the newest one when it is released) to allow me to run linux on my xbox as well as allow me to still play games on LIVE. From what I've read and had people tell me, I gather that an Xecuter chip has a 1mb TSOP that is bypasses the original xbox's TSOP. Therefore, I can split the Xecuter's TSOP in the same way that I would split the original XBOX's, correct? Can anyone point me to a tut or give me some basic guidelines on how to do this? I know the new X3 might be slightly different, but at least I'll be somewhat familiar with the process. Thanks all!

Every modchip does the same job really .. (well thats the way i look at them).. Just about any modchip including a cheap mod (http://kangamail.com) will work just fine in any xbox and can also be switched off for xbox live use.. (for example the AppleXV)..
Look around before you commit to a particluar modchip as really they all run linux, backupgames and more (unsigned code).. Basically all the modchip is doing is giving the XBOX a alternative xbox bios to boot off..
Once the machine has booted it doesnt use the bios again until a cold start.(power off or reset)
My old homebrew mod 49LF020 chip would be fine to play on XBOX LIVE as long as i install a switch to turn it off too.. It cost me $20AUD from kangamail.com and came with the bios already on it..
Ive installed so far:
1 x enigmah (29 wires - one of the first only 1.0/1.1 from memory)
4 x 49LF020 (9 wires - older xboxes)
5 x appleXV (9 wires - all xboxes)
no complaints from any of my friends
hope that gives you more info anyway..
