Can any one please help. I am trying to ftp with my computer. I am running with a xenium ice chip and m8 bios. I tried using Qwix and Flash and both gave me an unable to connect screen and timed out. I am trying to plug into the back of my lynksys router but I also attempted directly in the back of the computer. The plug in the back of the xbox lights up when I plug into the router but does not when I go directly into the computer. Any help is greatly appreciated. Ive double checked all of my settings. I am running a version 1.6 xbox.

When bypassing the router, you should be using a Crossover cable. That's probably why the light doesn't light up when you try that.
Sorry, I have been unable to get you connected in previous emails. You have done everything I have done to connect, hopefully someone here can give you some advice. We have some people here that are real strong with networking Unfortunately, I am networking challenged..
Just to give some more info for everyone, when he grabbed his IP Address from doing an IPCONFIG he recieved the same thing I do (I also have a linksys router) 192.168.1.100
So, I am figuring that he can go into evox and assing a static IP of 192.168.1.101, or .102, or .200 for that matter as long as the last three numbers aren't over 300 or whatever the max is.
It sounds like he is doing all the right things. That is how I have connected hundreds of machines to my network and I don't have any issues.
The only difference is, I am not using a wireless router.
Hope you get the info you need to get it fixed. Keep me posted.

I am having the same problems with a friend's xbox that is using a wireless linksys router with a wireless g xbox gaming adapter. I'm going to assign static IP's tonight for him on both machines, leaving the DNS and gateway the same and everything should work like a charm. I'll post a response in here and tell you if it works and what exactly I did cause I was having the exact same problem. Talk to you later tonight. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Just to let you know too, I am not using the wireless gaming adapter. I am connecting directly into the back of the wireless router. It has four extra inputs in the hub.

Yeah, but basically it's the same issue. Whether you're using a wireless gaming adapter or plugging straight into the router, it shoudln't make a difference. I'll let you know later tonight what I find out. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

I went in Windows XP control panel and established a new network connection using a local ip. Rebooted and it worked great. Follow the XP directions and they will give you the answers. IE. connecting computer to computer.

Since we are talking FTP - lol
I just put an ICE chip in my Bud's Xbox tonight. He has a 1.6, that was nade in the same factory as mine, one month later. I can FTP to my box with no problems, so I made his setting the same as mine and .... NOTHING!!!
I check and double checked every thing I could think of, but nothing I did would work. To get the BIOS to his box I ended up putting his HD in my box and FTP'ed it over.
The only differences I could find in our boxes:
Unlike my ICE, his didn't come with a DO wire loom, so I had to hard wire the LFRAME to the D0 point on the ICE
His ICE has the 2.0.1 OS compared to my 2.3
Could either of these differences keep me from FTP'ing to his box? _________________ Xbox Version 1.6

Just let me know when you need me to do your sons machine
By the way, if you would like a VIP membership let me know. I'll donate 10.00 on your behalf since you bought the machine from me. It's something I just started doing for my customers. Just let me know and I can get it all arranged.

Like a lot of people, I was having problems
getting my XBox and PC to talk to each other.
Everything was properly hooked up, crossover
cable and all. I finally realized that all
you have to do is invert your PC IP and
XBox IP in the network setup. Under XP,
go to Network Connections, then, properties
on your NIC, then, properties on IP.
Under General, click
"Use the folowing IP address"
IP Address is what you will call your PC.
EX 192.168.0.3
This should be the same as the gateway
on your XBox.
Then Subnet 255.255.255.0
Not sure exactly what that one is for,
but, everyone seems to use those numbers.
Finally, the Default Gateway should be
the same as the IP for your XBox. Then,
once you set that up, go to your FTP
program. I use the Filezilla extention
in Mozilla. Free, and easy.
I still have problems with some XBoxes,
but, once I properly connect, the
information stayes in Filezilla, and,
works fine the next time.Hope this
is of some help.

Well I see that everything worked itself out but I said that I would post here what I figured out after fiddling with my buddy's xbox.
We got it going by doing Static IP addresses instead of DHCP. We can FTP into it and everything. The only problem that we're still having is using XBMC over the network. I changed the workgroup to WORKGROUP and everything, and it still says Access Denied or NT_Status_Object_Name_Not_Found. He has user accounts on his PC so do I either need to disable them or edit the xbmc.xml file to include his username and pass? THanks for the help! _________________ XBOX v1.6c
