Help please..... I am trying to upgrade the os on the chip... using the recovery/cd method... have used this cd on another system and it worked fine... the xbox is a v1.0... using the x2_4983.67 bios and the evox 3935 dashboard... it all works fine(can play games etc...) When I choose the recovery option... it reboots... say loading for sometime then says Halt!... the eject/led flashes a orange color then goes to a solid red... have tried to the hdd method and I get the same results... lost as what to do...
In addition to this tried using the slayer cd...(again have used it successfully already on another system).. the dashboard says there is no disc????
please help

Okay, first....why are you upgrading the chips OS?
I am assuming you have a Xenium Ice mod chip with a 2.0 OS?? And, you want to upgrade to the 2.0.1.?
Download the HDD version of the OS upgrade. FTP it to your E folder on your Xbox. Unlock your HD and then select the recovery option on your Xenium OS menu. You should see the Eject light go from orange to a green/red flash just like a frag. When it's done, it will shut down. There should be no reason why it wont work, but if you insist on using the disk...burn the .ISO version of the upgrade to media that your xbox will read. I have a feeling you are using disks that are not being read or you are not burning the .iso properly.
Disconnet your HD from the IDE cable and you can also pull out the power cord (molex connector) from the HD. Put the disk in the DVD rom drive and select recovery from the Xenium OS list.
Once you have it upgraded, we can work on any other issue that you may be having. If you already have 2.0.1 then there's no reason to upgrade.

I do not really care which method I use... was just trying to get it to work... I tried to ftp the file over... unlock the hdd and select recovery... got the same result... flashing orange led... then solid red... tried the disconnect of hdd... same result....
This went so well on the other v1.3 xbox I did... my luck that it would give me trouble on a v1.0...
What can I do next....

I tried to ftp the file over
Does this mean you weren't able to? I have only ever used the CD method once, the HD method never fails for me.
Are you sure you are burning it to media that your xbox can read?
That would be the only thing that I could think of. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

no the hdd method did not work... all I got is the orange flashing light...
not sure if the media is readable by the drive.. have never used a cd in the drive... I do know that the disc worked in my v1.3 box...
is there a difference in the hdd upgrade file and the cd upgrade file...
I was not able to get the hdd upgrade to work on my v1.3 box.. had to use the cd upgrade version.. which worked fine.
If there is a difference in the files... perhaps the hdd upgrade file is no good...anyway you can get me the file you are using....

Actually, it doesnt matter if you burn an ISO to a CDRW or DVDR....it only matters what brand you use...that is what he meant.
