Hey all.
This weekend I'm swapping out my 40g for a 200 and also chipping a friend's w/ an x2 and a 200G drive. I would like to get the gamsaves off the drives before the swap. On my box I plan on ftp'ing to the drive and pulling off the saves. Where are the saves located?? I'm running most of my games off the F: drive. Are they in the same location where the game was dumped to??
On the other box I'd like to keep the stock drive untouched. Here's my plan, let me know if it makes sense or if there's an easier way.
1) Remove factory drive
2) put it in my modded box
3) unlock the drive
4) make an image of the drive on my pc using ghost
5) put it back in the modded xbox and intall a dashboard so I can ftp and get the game saves
6) restore the image back onto the drive
Any thoughts??? _________________ XBOX v1.1

Hiya
yes ftp them over to your pc, just copy the tdata and udata folders from the E: drive.
With regards the other question, just download and autoinstaller, if you want a hard drive back to standard, you can just format and instal msdash, no need for ghosting etc. As long as you have save games backed up, everything else can be done with the AI

I use Xbox Saves application that I got from our download section. It's awesome.
It will automatically grab all of your game saves and store them on your PC... Then after you put your new HD in it will install the game saves for you on that HD. Then you can keep them on your PC for backup or delete if you wish.
I use it for all of my customers who want me to xfer their games saves to their modded machine. It is basically the same thing as FTP'ing, but it just grabs the stuff for you. You don't have to do anything manually, but you still have to be able to FTP into your machine...not hard at all.

You guys are fast! Are you unemployed or just #$%*ing around at work like I am? Ok so if get this right....go ahead and mangle the stock drive w/ the autoinstaller?? Wont this overwrite the game saves?? I guess my issue is I need to mod the stock drive some how to connect to it? I've used the autoinstaller before and lost my saves. Is there an option to just install a dash from the AI so the partitions are not messed with. I guess once I have the game saves it doesnt matter what I do to the drive as I can reutrn it to factory w/ the AI?? right?
Modgod...got the save manager...thnks] Again the issue is how to make the factory unmodded drive accessable to use this prog. I think this is where I'm still lost...how do I get to the factory drive w/o losing the saves.? I'll take a look at the AI tonight and see if I have missed something. _________________ XBOX v1.1

Hiya
Just use the "install evox" option, don't format or partition anything, all you want to install is evox, nothing else, kinda depends on the auto-installer as I have seen some that only install everything in one go.
why don't you reply with the list of options on the AI?
other than that you got it figured.

As themodgod said, you need a Xbox save manager to copy the game saves to your PC, then back to the new drive once it is installed. I use XSaveMgr, I think I found it here.

Actually, all I do is this.
Once I install my customers Mod Chip and have it flashed I unlock it. I then use my chips FTP tools and configure the IP info. Then I use the game saves.
If your chip doesn't allow you to do that, then take the previous advice. All you have to do is install Evolution X to C with E support. Then you can boot to EvoX dash and use the EvoX Settings and configure your IP address so Xbox Saves MGR can connect and extract the data.
After that go ahead and install new HD.
Once new HD is in, pop your Autoinstaller in and boot the hacked bios. At the main menu choose: Format Prepare HD. Format Retail HD. Next you need to prepare your HD. Preparing is basically just installing certain folders into the partitions that you have just created. You will either prepare your large HD with E+F support or E+F+G support. It depends on how many partitions you have, which depends on the bios you used in conjunction with the size of your HD. If your bios ends in .06 then use E+F, if it ends in .67 then use E+F+G. If you are using a M7 or M8 bios, you will have to know how it is configured so you know how to properly prepare your drive.
Once you have your HD formatted and prepared, now you can install your dashboards.
I usually install MS Dash first, then I go ahead and install Evolution X build 3935 to C with E+F+G support. This is what throws some people off. There is no selection to install EvoX Build 3935 to C with E+F support, only with E+F+G support. This is okay, just use it.
Next, you can install your applications to F drive.
After that is done, go to Format and Prepare HD again and lock your HD.
Now go to Install Other Applications and install, "DVD Region Free for MS Dash". I always install this last because it makes you reboot.
When you are done the first thing you want to do is launch your MS Dash and see if you get error code 13. You probably will. The default.xbe file with this installer is corrupt or something. Not sure, but here is the fix.
Go to the VIP download section and go to Dashboards., then to MS Dashboards and find the upload that I submitted called, "MS Dash for Versions 1.4 and Higher. Don't worry if you have an older machine. It doesn't matter.
Download this zip file and unzip it. Then, FTP the default.xbe file to your C drive on your Xbox. When asked to overwrite select "YES". Reboot and you will be all fine.
Let me know if you have any other specific questions.
And yes, I am unemployed. I have this big cardboard box outside on the street corner...it's not that bad....the bathroom is kind of small, but at least I have internet access
Actually, I am self employed so I usually have a couple hours a day free to spend on here and my forum in attempt to help people out.
later bud.
