being brash and impulsive and fed up of windows xp, my pc running like a fat kid, and what i thought was a bright idea i completely left windows xp and have moved to ubuntu! i would reccomend it to many as an alternative, get the livecd and try it out! for those with it i need some help - before i changed to ubuntu i bought a second network card so i could have my seXbox networked all the time and to play kai!!! but here are my following issues:
1) ive struggled to find anything similar to network connections to set my ips correctly - i found loads of different network stuff which and what do i need to configure
2) i haven't been able to ftp for a while which isnt essential but how can i get some sort of share set up? so i can stream again and i like free, what should i be using for ftp? web browser? something else?
3) any advice sbout setting up kai, or abusive/useful comments will be appreciated
all i need to be able to do is:
set up ftp
set up share
Use kai
And i will be happy!
i have got experiance setting all this stiffle up but not on linux! thanks anyone for contribution even if i dont reply i will use all info which is of use! and pass it on to my friends - share the knowledge!!!!

i used Ubuntu a while back (version 5.04, hoary hedgehog) but to be honest i couldnt `get into it`. i prefer the KDE desktop to the Gnome one. (check out PClinuxOS).
Anyway, use gFTP to access your XBox.
Open X terminal.
Type `su` to become root - then enter root password.
Then type `sudo apt-get install gftp.
Once installed u should be able to find it in `apps\internet\gFTP`.
TBH i cant remember, but u may find it in the `repositry`(if its even called that) and download it from there, rarther than the command line download method.
Also in the `repositry` you should be able to find ZSNES & PSX emulators.
Theres also a program called `wine` which allows you to run some, not all windows .exe files, should you want to use a windows based FTP client of your choice.
As for Xlink, f#&@ knows, i cant even get it working with windows ! _________________
