I have searched around this forum and online and have gotten mixed results. I have a 1.6 xbox and wanted to know if I can softmod it with the 007 exploit per the instructions in the SID .pdf
Will the 1.6 have a firmware newer than 5960 or whatever that will prevent me from softmodding? If so is it possible to downgrade? Please let me know if I need to change anything from the pdf instructions.
Thanks in advance!

Here is my tut for SID 4 installing, i like sid 4 better than 5.01.
Out of curiosity, why do you like the old SID over the new one? I have the new one and was thinking of using it unless there is a good reason to get the old one...

I have encountered no problems at all with SID 5.01
As far as I can tell (and I've used it a fair few times now), there are no issues arising from SID 5.01. I have used the Dual Boot option and Single Boot, with excellent results.
Is anyone else having these same problems? If so is it only on the 1.6?

I had the same problem with my 1.6 xbox and SID 5.0. After softmod was done I got error codes that I was missing some ms dash files. I used SID 4 and installed the softmod flawlessly. I have since seen the SID 5.01 bug fix and will uninstall the softmod so I can retry with 5.01. SID 5 menus seemed more understandable, so I would prefer to use it for teaching friends how to install a softmod. I'll let you know if the problem is fixed in 5.01.
