Sorry for spamming these boards with my dumb questions, but I just bought 2 more xbox's leaving with me with 3 altogether. On my first 1 I upgraded to a 320 GIG HD just fine!
Now I'm getting another 320GIG for my 2nd xbox and I'm looking into a 500GIG for my 3rd xbox.
What I need help with is my 500 GIG HD.... I found 2 really cheap 1's, but I need to know which 1 will actually work in my xbox...
Heres the links to the 2 hard drives that I found.
yeah it will work, but that drive will have to be formated with different cluster sizes to keep it from fragging. _________________

ok thanks. But what exactly does fragging mean? So when I format it the first time, will it be OK from there and on? And will I be able to get most of the space out of the HD such as approx. 470GiG?

What is "fragmenting" or fragging.
Imagine a large library of books arranged in volumes. Also imagine that the librarian for this particular library re-shelves the books in a way which moves the individual books in the volumes further apart from each other. As more books are added to library, the further apart and more mixed up the books in the volumes become. Now imagine that you come to the library and want to check out an entire volume of books. You would have to search all over the library to find each individual book in the volume that you want. In computer terms, what is happening when the individual books are re-shelved in this way is called fragmenting, and this is what happens to your computer as you install programs, download files, or just use your computer in general.
When running programs that contains hundreds of files, fragmenting can degrade the performance of your computer. As the clusters of files on your hard drive become fragmented, they grow further apart and it takes longer for your computer to find and assemble all the pieces necessary to run the programs. _________________

Ok now I understand that. So If I buy this 500Gig for meda use such as loads of cds and music videos, will this hard drive wear out quick? Or is it not a good idea to get a 500gig? And my other question.... will I be able to get most of the space out of the HD such as approx. 470GiG?
Thanks for explaining that!

It depends on the manufacturer on how much space is accutally is on the hdd.
The hdd wont wear out, there more of a chance of it overheating than wearing out. So with a 500 gb hdd your gonna need more cooling and it has to be formated with a app to make the cluster sizes bigger in the partitions so the hdd dont fragment either, Greven will have to answer that because I cant remember the app name. _________________

So I would just basically have to format it the same way I did my 320 Gig.
I was planning on intsalling another fan anyways to keep it C0o0ooL.
