Could it be the media? It's hard to tell. I have burned DVD's that have played fine in my home DVD player, but not a friends or a relatives. It's a shame that there isn't a universal media type that is recognized by all dvd drives.

Hm, movie rip...

It could be in various formats too, for example if it's on normal CD-Rs it could be using some kind of Video CD Encoding (like VCD, SVCD, KVCD etc.). Most DVD players will play VCD, but other formats like SVCD and KVCD are more picky and don't always work in every DVD player.

If it's burned onto a DVD, check to see if it's a plus (+) or minus (-) DVD, yet again another compatibiltiy problem between players.

This is about as much as I can think of to help, hope it does...
