Posted: Sat Dec 25, 2004 8:01 pm Post subject: HELP !!! SPIDER CHIP EMERGENCY!!!!
hey ... ok so i installed my spider chip works fine gets to the cromwell bios ... and ive been reading on the forums bout everything !!! So i finally tried to install a normal bios so i could then install the hq auto installer I tried the Xecuter2498367 because somebody on here said they ran that and it worked fine ... well mine didnt work fine! It installed and everything ... then it shut off and the xbox started flashin red and green .... yep tried everything and its not working ... im assuming i need to reflash the chip ... so heres my thinking: i need a bios that actually works (which one for spider chip?) and i need to reflash the chip (how ????) or can i just take the damn hd outta the xbox and hook it up to the comp and just throw evoX or avalaunch on it there WHATEVER!! i just want this thing to get up and running.... can anyone help me !!! PLEASE! !!! All help is GREATLY appreciated !! and merry xmas!

hiya
If you have a 1.6 then you need the Evox M8 or M8+ bios depending, if this is the case your going to need to either put the chip in a v1.0-1.5 xbox and reflash it, or wait for the external programmer to come out early this year.
If you have a v1.0-v1.5 then your going to need the external programmer aswell as you prob have a bad flash.

I have a 1.6 but i can easily use a 1.0-1.5 ... so basically you're saying i hav to wait for the programmer no matter what? or is there a chance that i can still just reflash the chip cause the bios got on it fine and i just used the wrong version

Hiya,
You may be fine, you need to put it in a v1.0 to 1.5 and flash it with the evox M8 Bios, or better still the evox M8+ beta 4 just in case you have the b revision.
You prob won't need the programmer that way.

ok i installed the chip in a 1.0 box ... however on the startup the xbox just has "x-chip" right below the green X for the xbox .... and then it loads the m$ dash ... anyone know what i did wrong on the instal ? or maybe i do just need the programmer?
