If you use led's then temp is not an issue, I sell and carry out led mods and I believe real mccoy does too (opposite sides of the pond).
All my premod crystals I do with eject leds, control port leds and custom pcb led rings and also HDD, DVD and LAN activity leds, all of which I sell individually as kits with tutorials etc.
Im gonna try a balck xbox with white leds next, curious how it will turn out.

leds and el wire. pretty much no heat.
the best thing about my xbox, is that it looks like something a covonant built. i might start making them and selling them.
