Alright I've tried following a few tutorials but somethin is still missin. I use the T3CH XBMC build, I believe it was the last one to come out September. Any helps appreciated. _________________

Are you trying to connect to a linux box or a windows box?

My PC runs windows if thats what you mean, and my xbox I'm tryin to do it to is just a regualr ol softmodded xbox v1.6. _________________

You need to set up a network on your pc and then put the network settings in the xbmc smb settings.
then you need to set the xbmc network settings to point to your pc or router.
Lets say you want to set up the music smb, you wold select add a source and then select add a network source.
If your smb and network settings are right youll see your pcs name in that list.
From there youll follow the path to whare you keep your music files on your pc.
When you got the path ok out till your back to the screen you started at and select add.
If you have a router i find dhcp to work the best.
I know this is not ez to follow but its by no means a tut.
If you need more info on one of the steps let me know man ill get to you as soon as i can.

Alright still not workin what exactly should the smb settings look like. Also how do I get the XBMC network settings to point to my PC and I seem to be having troubles getting my PC to setup a network ae least I think. Shouldn't it say shared under my LAN connection with all the other info? _________________

On your windows pc is the `workgroup` actually called `workgroup` ??.
I`m not sure this will help you but i remember having to mess about with the workgroup name to get things working, check it out anyway.
Start => control panel => system => computer name ..... click `change` to name workgroup - workgroup _________________

Yeah you also change it when you set up a network. Well I finally got it workin but not with smb shares. I ended up usin windows media player 11's built in universal Plug and Play file sharing server and set up a uPnp share in XBMC instead. Thanks for the help anyways guys. _________________
