I have an xbox version 1.6 that stopped powering up. I originally thought it was the power supply due to when I played around the plug that plugs into the motherboard it would power up.

I ordered a new power supply and same thing. I have noticed that if I put a little pressure around the power supply connector on the motherboard that it will power up.

My thought now is that there is a flex open in the traces somewhere in the motherboard. When I turned the mother board over to inspect it around the connector, I noticed a surface mount capacitor that is missing. I say missing because it looks like one was soldered there and taken off later. C2U3 is the capacitor location/ID.

Can anyone confirm is there is supposed to be a capacitor there, and if so, what value/ratings?

Thanks

im looking at my 1.6 Mobo and cannot find the C2U3 spot, where is it exactly?????

and about the power cuppler, you might have a bad wire connection, or the connector on the board might not have a good solder on it....

Thanks for your kind reply.

On the back of the motherboard, next to the solder points for the power plug. I'll try to take a picture of it later today.

I've already replaced the power supply, to rule out the bad wire connector, unless it's in the motherboard connector, and not in the power supply plug. I've resoldered every point on the back of the motherboard connector, to rule out a bad solder point.

Here is a picture of the back of the motherboard with the cap location identified by red box.

NOPE I Dont see anything there either........

but like i said ... if you have to puch on the power connectorr
I would check

Both connectors
solder points.
test with a meter
check for mobo cracks
look at the micro wires on the mobo to see if there is damage..
