I found a 40gig Maxtor HDD laying around my office yesterday and decided to take it home and see if the Xbox would reformat it. I hooked it up and popped in the AID 3.10 disc that I made, but it never got off the start up X screen. I hooked my HDD back up and rebooted and it booted to the AID disc no problem. At first I did'nt think that the HDD would make a difference if it was booting to the dvd-rom, but after it booted up with my good HDD and noticed that all the available space is listed for each partition I'm figuring that if it would boot to AID its probably because it can't read that info off the extra HDD. So does that mean that its more then likely a useless HDD? Or is there something else I can do to test it out?

First put it in your computer and see if it reads if it does then format it using windows. If it does not read in windows then it is probably locked to the computer that it came out of...most offices do that
