I am confused on the different options of installing a softmod. I know there is the SID stuff but I also heard something about a MechInstaller. Are these methods the same thing? What are the pros and cons of both methods?

SID stand for Softmod Installer Deluxe, and MEchinstaller i believe is the way of usind SID. As with SID you can use MEch Assault, 007: AUF, or Splinter Cell.

So to cover it all up yes there the same in a way.
