I installed the X3 and X3 Control Panel and flashed the BIOS. When I turn on the Xbox with the chip enabled (tap power button) it boots to the X3 BIOS and runs fine, but if I try and turn on the Xbox with the chip disabled (holding down the power button) the lights on the front flash on quickly for a couple seconds then shut off, after about three seconds the Xbox powers on by itself but with the chip enabled. Any ideas why I can’t boot with the chip off?
I double checked the Power/Eject cables and they’re plugged in fine.

Please excuse the stupidity of this question, but is it possible that when I flashed the X3 3294 BIOS that I flashed over the regular M$ BIOS and now I can’t boot to it?

Also I’ve got another problem. I flashed the BIOS with the switches set to “on on off off off” now whenever I try and load with the switches set to “on on off off” I get fraging but when I try “off off off off” it loads to the X3 BIOS. I have no idea why it’s doing this, I have tried reflashing with banks set to “on on off off off” but I have the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I unconnected the switch plug and flashed the BIOS (so it would default to the 1MB bank) but then it just cycles a couple of times and frags (it still loads to X3 BIOS from the 2MB bank) is it possible to erase the 2MB bank?
I made a backup of my Hard Drive before I tried installing any dashboards or apps. I formatted the Hard Drive and FTP the backup back on to the Xbox’s Hard Drive then I uninstalled the chip and everything else so the Xbox would be back to its original state.
Problem is now it cycles a couple of times and frags just like when I tried booting with the chip off. I reinstalled the chip booted with “off off off off off” and it loads up to the X3 BIOS and I can load to the M$ Dash from there with the modded BIOS.
I already checked to make sure my Hard Drive was locked and it is. I also have all the necessary files on my Hard Drive to boot the M$ Dash. This leads me to believe that I somehow flashed over the regular M$ BIOS, if I did can I flash the M$ BIOS back onto my board? And if so which one would I need from Xbins for a v1.4 Xbox?
Original BIOS listed on Xbins

I would really appreciate some help. Even if you’re just speculating on what could be wrong please share it with me.

The higher the number the better, its just a newer bios.

However, unless the xbox has a couple of incredinly unlocky solder splashes landing right on the exact points required to tsop I don't think you could have overwrote the default bios.

What kind of install? Solderless or soldered?

If all else fails flash the MS bios to your X3 and boot off of that, it will act exactly like a stock xbox, XBL and all.

Solder less, but I tried using the pins install when I started having problems.

I'll try flashing the M$ BIOS to the X3.

When I tried flashing the M$ BIOS it went through the flashing process as if everything was fine, but it just wouldn't seem to take.
The really weird part is when I went to check to make sure the flash protection was off on the chip itself, the light on the chip should be green when the flash protection is off and red when it is on but no matter which way I have the switch the light stays green. This led me to believe there might be something wrong with the chip so I borrowed an X3 from a friend and sure enough it works. Now I’m in the process of sending it back for a replacement. Anyway I just wanted to give you guys and update and thank you for the help.
