hi all and hobbs if your around i have the aid 3.0 disk and one standed abox1 i want to softmodd it but don,t know risk of losing the retail setup if the soft mod gos wrong where are all the tools of the job that i am going to need. it is a mfg:2005-01-26 and s/n :05 ending.

Do you have the hardware(USB connector, USB thumb drive, and exploit game) to do the softmod? If you do, follow these steps
Get the game save for SID4.5 onto your USB stick
Copy to MS dash
Boot Exploit game
Load Game save
In softmod menu, change your network settings to something that will allow you to FTP to the xbox
Reboot with the "restart" option in the SID menu
FTP into xbox and make complete backup of C and E to your PC
Backup Eeprom and get back into SID menus
Backup eeprom to your PC as well
Backup MS dash
Install softmod
If you have AID3.0 you should have the SID game gaves in the Tools folder of the PC files.

hi again apart from the usb stick would i not already have most of what you have mentioned in the aid3.0 or not and also what are the chances of recovering from this setup if the softmod don,t work. fubr or what coz
i need a little more info than that .it sounds a bit thin in the risk deparment but i have a good chance of the xbox living on to another day i,ll be happy.

With the backup of your xbox files and eeprom file you could do a complete restore back to the point before the softmod with out trouble using a program called xboxhdm. this will allow you to unlock your HDD, format the drive, replace all the files with the backups, and relock, return it to a stock hard drive.
The risks are very minimal. I've done tons of xbox softmods with very little trouble.
You should have all the files you need, its just the hardware that most softmodder have a problem coming up with _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

ok thanks mate i,ll think about that a bit . i,ll read the of the aid3.0 manual and see if i can put it in stages an so i don,t miss anything . The loading part i thick i can do but the usb setup sounds a bit shaddy and i mean do you do this by the usb or by the disk which comes first ? i don,t know for me to put it simple step by step no confusion.
