Hi I am considering to start modding but have no idea how to start I know I am going to need 2 xbox's. One unmodded and one modded, I also will need 2 accounts on Live 1 for the unmodded xbox and one for the modded one to avoid having them both banned but that is all I know and oh yeah I already have action replay.

Now does anyone know what I should do to start modding?

you wont need 2 xboxes if you do things properly and read up..

You can install a modchip or softmod your machine thats up to you..
Personally i find modchip's to be the most reliable..

You can just switch it off too.. But make sure you find out everything you need to know before jumping onto live.

Softmodding is very very popular, especially after the kick ass installer hq put out.

With that said, I agree with Hypnotix....get a chip Wink

Maybe I am just bigtime old school, but I still prefer a chip install versus softmodding or TSOP flashing. Not that one is better or easier than the other, it's just the way I learned and it has always been a stable mod for me.

Sure enough, ppl have nuked their Xbox's both ways, so you still have to be careful with your mod regardless how you decide to do it.

Here is what you need to do to get started. First, decide if you want to softmod, TSOP flash, or go with a chip. Read up some tutorials on all three and see which one seems better for you.

Get all of the software/exploits/installer that you need up front. Find out what version Xbox you have, and also what DVD drive is in your machine. This will help you decide what disks to buy in order to burn your software onto.

If you go with a chip, make sure you get some basic equipment. 15watt to 25watt soldering iron. Solder, desoldering braid, flux, tinner/cleaner, a spare soldering iron tip.

Practice doing some quick solder jobs. If you can find some old busted up electronics to practice on that helps too.

Just read up on everything as much as you can. Ask lots of questions. Take your time and do it right and you won't have any problems. If a small problem occurs, post, be patient, and your problem will get solved.

Good luck.

If you have nevered soldered before a xbox motherboard is not the place to learn. Beleive I learned the hard way if you are unsure maybe you can find someone that lives near you that can help.

Get a chip and have them soder it too....this will be cheaper then buying another Xbox and they will flash it and soder it so all you have to do is hit the Eject button to boot the chip and the power button to boot the ms dash so you can go on live just fine

Softmodding seems better to me because everytime I ask a modder on Live he/she will say to softmod rather than get a chip and I really don't know about openeing up my xbox it seems kinda worse than just dragging files with the action replay. But I think I will watch all tutorials before I make a decision and what is TSOP flash? Well Even if I don't know what it is I am sure I can find out if I read the tuturial Very Happy
