I have a friend's xbox which has a softmod. Is there any problem with using AID3 to install some emulators, or even update some of the ones he has?

You're welcome... And don't forget, AID doesn't come with ROMS. FOr now, you'll have to find them yourself, or try and grab them off Lord Sith's VIP server and add them via FTP or DVD to your Xbox.
