Is there any reason to still use a mod chip? I used to have one and I hated it. Whenever I moved my xbox it would stop working because the dumb chip was misaligned and I had to fix it. Now that I have the softmod, I'm not even concerned with that anymore.

Anyway, I just don't see the pros to a mod chip.

well the only real good reasons to even have a chip is if you want to make sure that you don't completely screw yourself up. If you have a chip you can always go back and fix theproblem or error you've made. With a softmod, it's one mistake and goodbye xbox. But not many are serious. Also chips make it easier to put things into your box. Also if you want to install a bigger harddrive a modchip is useful. So there are a few good ones but I wouldn't recommend one unless you screw up your xbox or you just want to mess around and not worry about have to take it to get fixed.

If he has to buy action replay and a memory card, how is that less expensive than a cheap chip?
Besides he's already softmodded, so I don't see the need to chip the box anyways.

Truth be told, if one screws up the Xbox using a solderless mount to the point of no return, they had no business messing with an Xbox in the first place. Laughing

I used to be all about the softmods... I'm a poor broke bastard. Then I got my Xecuter 2.6CE... I don't think I'll ever go back to softmods (unless I get another xbox working... damnit, I have so many parts, I could build 2 more). Not only did I upgrade my HDD in 20 seconds, I customized my Boot screen... Shark, I know you hate the flubber... I do too. Until I turned it blue and changed the camera angle, and made the X blue and put my own custom logo on the monster... You just can't do that with a softmod.

Every time my friends come over and my box boots, they just stare at it and say "How the hell?!". It's so freakin cool. Not to mention, I hop on live with a flick of switch and not have to worry about the dash being updated. It so sweet. And so secure.

Oh, shark, I'm setting up my XLink Kai in a bit. PM me your Screen name. I'm dead serious about fraggin you... Damnit, I need a xbox live headset... Anyone got one they can sell me for cheap? With the controller plug?

It's no secret, my kai is Shark2th and has a shark avatar close to the one on this site. I tried to use the one from this site, but the avatar I guess is too big. Second, I was on kai for a bit just last night and saw T-rizzle out there but of course just about the point where I was going to try to flag him down, things broke loose with the 6 year old and that's where my attention turned. Lastly, not no but hell no you can't have a damn microphone! WTF do I wanna hear you yacking for when I sneak up behind your scrawny ass and pistol whip you dead.

NO reason at all to use modchip anymore. Softmod can do everything a chip can do.

Coming from someone with 2 posts. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Chips advantages outweighs softmods advantages. But, like always..."to each, his own"
