I'm trying to upgrade the HD on my softmodded box. I must have burned a dozen ISOs.
The last ISO I burned had only MS dash 5960 on C: an empty E: and F:
I'm able to lock and unlock the Maxtor 120 GB drive using the PW I obtained with ConfigMagic from the original 8 GB drive. I've entered the PW so many times I almost remember it.
When I set up the 120 GB drive in my PC, I set the HD as master and the CD Rom as slave on the primary IDE.
Everything goes smoothly, Xboxhdm does it's thing, I lock the drive with the PW, change the jumper to cable select, put it in my xbox and boot to the "needs service screen."
Can anybody give me a clue? _________________ Not quite a Newbie
I don't see an error number, it just frags and says my box needs service in a couple of languages.
I DL'd MS dash 5960 and put the files and folders in C:
For whatever reason, when I use the lock or unlock command -a, the program can't find my eeprom.bin. Heck, I've copied the files and put them everywhere and it still doesn't find them...so I have to enter it manually manually.
There's got to be a solution to this and it's probably a simple oversight on my part, but I'll be darned if I know what it is.
You gotta admit that Xboxhdm isn't the most obvious piece of software you've ever used.
Still looking for a clue. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

Perhaps it's the eeprom file. Be sure the file sized it 256k. Also make a backup through EvoX (sytem menu-Backup).
The file it creates needs to be copied to \\xboxhdm\linux\eeprom _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

the easiest thing to do would honestly be to buy a cheap duox2 (about 18 dollars shipped)
it doesnt require the drive to be locked and once you get the hacked bios loaded, you can load AID right away... _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

Your right, I'm done. I've wasted enough time on this project.
Gus, thanks to your input, I can unlock and lock this sucker all day. Not that it helps me resolve my HD upgrade. I think my problem has to do with the old bios. Since I have a 1 MB bios, I might just do a TSOP flash. It's easy and I can do it even with these old eyes and shakey hands.
Thanks again guys. _________________ Not quite a Newbie

and if ya screw up the tsop flash your gonna have to get a mod chip still, its safer to buy a mod chip. _________________
