Hey wakefire, how's it going. Basically, smartftp works just like most FTP programs.
first you have to get your Xbox and your PC on the same network. You should supply additional information such as, do you have a router? Or, are you going to just use a crossover cable and connect your PC directly to your Xbox? Stuff like that.
Basically, once you have your Xbox IP address configured to be in the same range as your PC the rest is easy.
You will just open your FTP software and create a 'site' so to speak. What that means is, you create/configure a site or connection and can call it Xbox. In the settings it asks you what IP address your PC is going to connect to, you would input the IP address that you have configured to your Xbox.
Your username is always xbox
your password is always xbox
That should always remain the same.
Once you are connected you will see two Windows Explorer types of windows. On one side will be your Xbox's HD and on the other side will be your PC's HD. From there you can drag and drop files back and forth. So you can download a rom or something to your PC and then just FTP it to the proper folder by selecting it and dragging it from the PC side to the Xbox side. It's very simple once you get the hang of it.
Hope this helps you get started.
