I'm having a problem with my Xenium Ice chip. I've installed it last week, installed EvoX M8 bios and was able to play my backups for few days. Then one day, if I insert a backup, it's not being played. It just goes into dashboard and sits there. Anybody has any ideas?
Some people told me that it could be my DVD Drive (Philips). But if it is, how come it was working for a week and then just stopped ???
I'm still able to play original games though.

What dashboard do you have? If you have evox it will say on the dashboard main menu if the DVD you have in the drive is unreadable or if its a game, movie ect. You might just have to choose play game/movie from DVD if its not autoloading. You can change whether a game autoloads in the evox settings menu. _________________ Xbox v1.0

I just installed evox dashboard. When it goes there, the very first option is to play DVD. I select it but nothing happens. It doesn't leave the dashboard.
Before, when I didn't have evox dash, Microsoft's original dash would load and it would tell me that Xbox is unable to recognize the dvd. Make sure it is a xbox dvd or movie or music cd.
Also, someone told me that if I clear cache on E drive, that might help - I did - didn't help
What gives??? Was working perfectly for like 4,5 days.

hmm, check the cables for dvd drive, maye try someone elses, it's a bit strange hows it's gone now tho.

I've check all cables - HDs, DVDs, Xenium Ice - all are in place. So how come I can still play original games? but not backups?
Another interesting thing happened - I was playing a game, took it out, put another one in and the xbox, when booted, lost the time info. It went into the setup time/date window. So I setup the date and time, and since then it stopped playing the backups.
Could something have reset on the box or the xenium chip?

It's actually the X, Y, and Z cache that you should clear out.
If you upgrade your OS, or if you already have the 2.2.1 you should have that option to clear out the cache..
have you tried clearing the X, Y, Z using the Xenium Ice OS Tools??

I have Xenium OS 2.0.1.
I've tried to update it by copying the file over to the E:\ drive, but the update just Halts on me. I took the box apart, moved the switch to the restore position - same problem. I'm going to create the update cd and will see what will happen then.
I'll try to clear the cache via FTP on those drives too.

I've upgraded to xenium OS 2.2.1. Cleared out the Cache.
When in EvoX dash, when i inseart a backup, the dash sais - Game. So i select Load DVD. I see the evolution logo and after few mins box goes back into the evox dash and now where it said Game sais: Unknown.
What the heck ?!

I had similar issues when I first burned the AID. I used a DVD+R. It would load the AID then a few mins later say it cant read the disc. I switched to a DVD+RW and different brand and its worked fine ever since. Depending on what DVD drive you have you can only use certian types and certian brands of media. Try a DVD-RW as they seem to work best. Also dont buy the cheapest one you can find as the cheaper brands often dont work or not as well as high-quality brands. It's hard to say what happened, but I have the same problem with some backups that used to work and now dont. I originally was playing them off of the HD but FTP'd them and burned them.
I can actually back them up again and they will even show in my list but will not play.

If the DVD drive plays original games, then the drive is fine. The part that the Xenium ICE plays in this process is simply to load a hacked bios so you can play the backup. It does nothing more. The problem is in your Evolution X dash setting. If you load the dash and put an original game in and then select Play DVD, does it work? Probably not. I'll bet the Play DVD option is linked to a DVD playback app that isn't installed. Instead, what you need to check is your settings concerning autolaunching disks. I would also recommed upgrading to UnleashX. If you need EvoX dash for using trainers, you can set EvoX dash up as an app that you can run from UnleashX when you want to play with a trainer. _________________ Visit Mid-South Mods for expert mod installation, repairs, and upgrades

I have had this problem too one day backed up games will load than they wont, if the game will not load I put the disk in the xbox restart the xbox boot to evox and sometimes the disk will play if it doesn't eject tray and close, see if it reads it, if it still doesn't go thru the turn it off deal again, ... sometimes after all that bull it will read the disc if it does back it up quick on the hard drive if it doesen't you have yet another drink coaster. I have the best luck using dvd-rw and burning with nero or dvd decrypter. and I have the samsung modified drive it doesen't read much better than the stock one IMA _________________ XBOX ver.1
