Here's the details, I've got:

A Softmodded Xbox with EvoX
an 80 GB Hard Drive installed
about 25 games on the hd

Most of the games work fine, but Rainbow Six 3, Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow, Project Gotham Racing 2, and ESPN NFL 2k5 all stay at or loop at the loading screen. Project Gotham stays at the loading screen and doesn't go anywhere, it does the same thing when I put my disc in and try and run it off the disc. The Rainbow Six's ask me to hit start, I do, they load and then go back to the hit start screen. ESPN NFL 2k5 shows the videos before the menu page, but after the videos the screen just goes dark and stays that way.

These games are all ones that I have bought, so they are the retail discs.

Has anybody found fixes for these problems or know of where to find them or what to try?

It seems to me that these games are searching for something on a different drive or directory or something that maybe isn't there because I replaced the Xbox hard drive with a new hard drive. I've got the following drives on my new HD: C, D, E, F, X, Y, and Z. Maybe the X drive isn't large enough? That's where Rainbox Six 3 cache's its files.

hi jr43822,

ok.. What bios are your running with your modchip mate?
I doubt your partition size for X: Y: Z: is wrong since you would have used a AUTOINSTALLER to format it..

My guess is your bios is conflicting with the games.

hope that helps

cheers,

Hi jr,

Your xbox is softmodded and i dont know which soft mod hack you would have used nor do i know if you flashed the MAINBOARD TSOP BIOS!

Thats the problem with SOFTMODS.. Well with me anyway.. Its very hard to say what is going on..

I would personally install a MODCHIP and format your entire xbox.. This wil get rid of all your problems and your games will work again properly how they should.. Hopefully another member will jump in soon with more softmod experience.

actually a new softmod tutorial was just added have a look here:

Ltools Installer for Easily Softmodding an Xbox:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-93.html

hope that helps,

I want to add a little more information. The games don't load off the retail discs or the hard drive.

I used an all-in-one UDE installer game exploit that let me choose different options. One thing I remember choosing was PBL-Metoo.

Also, what makes me believe it's not the BIOS is that I played these games off the discs with the softmod and same BIOS I have now and they worked fine but now with the new hard drive they don't get past loading screens. Again, it's just these 4 games out of like 25-30. I don't get it and I can't find anybody else having this problem anywhere else on the internet.

PS: I don't want to install a modchip, I don't feel like paying for one and there is much more satisfaction from doing it this way, at least for me there is.

Hi,

So have you mirrored your old drive?
And how did you do it?
Did you copy all the files from the old and transferred to the new?

Im just trying to understand how you would upgrade your hdd since your SOFTMOD relies on the files on your HDD!

I don't know what has happened to make something like this happen. Were the games ever working? What tutorial did you use to replace your hard drive. do you have a link so that we can see exactly what you did?

The only reason I could think this would not work, is it is somehow preventing the game from running the dashupdate.xbe on the disk. I don't really think this is the problem, but that is the only thing that I can think of to explain why this happens.

Did you lock you hard drive back when you replaced it? Don't know if it's possible for it to be looking for a locked instead of unlocked drive so it restarts.

Sorry I couldn't really help you more. In the exploits section RM uploaded a file called UXE Softmod Exploit for 1.6 xbox. This is mainly for a 1.6 but it shoudl work for any system.
The point of this is, you may want to reinstall the softmod so that it worked like it did before you replaced the hard drive. If you use that UXE file, just extract the c drive files to the c drive, and the e drive to the e drive, then it should work. I think you'll be able to do this if you have ftp access.

Here's a link to the tutorial I used to install the new hard drive: http://how2xbox.com/hd.htm

The games worked after I did the softmod and before I replaced the hard drive.

Should I try reinstalling the softmod I used or use the one you linked in your post?

I don't know why it put my post as guest, but that post was me.

Another update:

I reinstalled everything with the same exploit I used last time. I used the following page if you want to see exactly what I did: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=227528

I tried almost all the combinations of choices, but none worked. Right now I settled with UDE2, PBL Metoo, and EvoX. I'm running out of ideas.

I am also having this problem. I have a Xenium Ice chip and I am using EvoX. I loaded my most played games that I own so I no longer have to switch out the disks (the 2 year old likes to play with them Wink ). All of my games other than Halo 2 and PGR 2 worked. I haven't been able to locate many other people with the PGR 2 problem. Lemme know if you find out the fix for the Project Gotham and Rainbow Six 3 jr43822.......I fear the Halo 2 fix may take some time for some one to figure out though

I figured it out. There's a cache folder on your E: drive. Delete all the folders in there and your games should work. At least PGR2 and Rainbow Six 3 should.
