I've got dashboard 5960 and I want to downgrade it to 4920 or whatever the most popular one is so I can use the audio exploits and run EvoX without having to use MechAssult. What's the easiest way to downgrade my dashboard?

first of all....to downgrade your dashboard you are going to have to have a ftp access to the harddrive , the only way i know of to do this on a unmoded xbox is to run a game exploit aka mechasslt , 007 or splinter cell ,
the only other way to do this that i know of is by hotswapping the harddrive , which is dengerous , difficult and the software to do this is unstable if you ever get it to work at all ,
my recommendation is : save yourself time , headache and money and use one of the game exploits , its the easiest way to mod an xbox ,

Hey Bobrownik!
I have a question for you! If jr43822 had a friend with a modded Xbox, is there any way he could have the friend install the HDD into the modded Xbox and change it for him? i dont think he can do it that way ,
modded xbox will not be able to unlock it because it will need the key that is stored on the motherboard that the harddrive came from ,
because his harddrive is locked , he can not unlock it from an unmodded
xbox and the only thing that can unlock it is his motherboard , or a the unlocking software but it has to be run on his xbox ,
if he runs an exploit , the he can create a backup , then he will know what the key is to unlock his harddrive , and then he can unlock it in his computer , i heard about a dos based software to do this ,
but its all too much hussle

Yup...trust me..you don't want to go there. Once a HD is locked on a certain mobo it can only be used on that mobo. I forgot about that and when I was doing a mod for rykon9 I went ahead and formatted and installed apps on a 120GB HD. I figured I'd get it out of the way because I had an extra machine laying here with a Thompson drive and I didn't want to wrestle with media. I figured I'd load it up and then just put the HD in the extra machine. After I sent his machine to him with his 200GB HD in it, I went ahead and assembled the extra machine so I had something to game on...when I got error 06 I knew what I did, I locked the HD out of habit. My only option is to send him the HD and have him unlock it for me and send it back.
