Hey guys,
I recieved my X3CE chip and Xapt3r 1.6 solderless adapter and X3CP in the mail yesterdy and went to town on installing it. When I tried inserting the wires into the points, I noticed that some of the points are covered by lacker(spelling!?!). I also read that a Fiberglass pen or fiberglass scratch brush will clean the points allowing you to insert the wires properly. I was rather frustrated because I've never had to deal with this before and I dont really feel like throwing away 140 bucks worth of mod chip parts.
So basically my main question is will the fiberglass pen really clean the holes and allow me to insert the wires? If so, where can I pick one of these up, is there a specific store or type of store where I could pick one up or am I going to have to order it over the internet? I really hope that I can get this figured out because I really want to get all of this going. Thanks for any responses guys. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

When I was attempting to install my X3, I took a small (very small) screwdriver and LIGHTLY scraped the holes. You should be able to see if it is doing any good or not, as the clear coat should scratch off. Not sure about the fiberglass pen though. I have never tried this. _________________ V1.6

So you also tried installing the new 1.6 xapt3r adapter and had some problems with some of the holes being filled in? More specificly the B, C, and E holes? Cause those are the three holes that are "filled in" or "covered" by lacker. I've read numerous different things, such as it won't work period. If you find a very very small needle and a small hammer, you can punch your own hole through and it'll work fine. Others suggest the fiberglass pen to scratch away the lacker. I'm up for some suggestions, I just want this sh*t t work. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Well guys, after about 7 hours of searching the teamxecuter's forum (all done at work, haha) I finally found some answers. What it basically boils down to is that a few, and very rare, xboxs have three holes filled in with a resin type material that you need to insert the wires for the solderless adapter. An official quote from xecuter is "it's nothing a fibre glass pen and a pin can't take care of in 2 minutes".
So the resolution to my problem is to pick up a fibre glass pen and a small needle and clear away the top lacquer and then GENTLY poke a new hole in with the needle, testing the adapter wire every so often.
I'll post a reply here later tonight and let you know if all works out! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Yea, sorry, I woulda posted if I saw this sooner..I have a job now!
Lol
Anyways,
You have a 1.6c, no revisions, just a more difficult attempt to mod, thanks to M$. But some have said it to be the 1.7 which is bullshit. ( Most call it 1.6c, b/c of Noobs confusing the boards and going apeshit over the fact there is resin in there holes...especially on the teamxecuter forums...I have seen it a lot over there, just about once a week)
Anyways, A fibreglass pen (I think Home depot or a Industrial/Commercial GLue/Epoxy/Resin shop would definitely have them.) and just lightly work out the resin. Clean with Alcohol and make sure resin is completely out (obcviously )
I wouldn't recommend the screwdriver method to most, b/c they will rush and erode the metal away from the point. Leaving nothing but some Circuit board and little fragments of metal. Leaving for a "less-than-solid" connection.
It should be a cake walk after that.
If it only works on 3.03, which only works with the 1.6b revisions (possibly your "C" ) That is on banks 5678 (off on off off off) . Make SURE, I can't stress this enough, to change the banks after booting into Flashbios to 1234 (on on off off off), or if you experience a bad flash, you won't have any back up.
The backup on the X3 from the factory comes with 3.01, which hence only works for 1.6a. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Well, I got it working! All I had to do was take a fiberglass pen and expose the metal areas around the holes. Then I actually went and bought some really really small sewing needles and took a baby hammer and GENTLY tapped them into the hole area repeatdly. The two ones that were the most difficult to keep in place were the C and E arms, because they have to do a little bending, but I got it and everything is all installed and working great! Looks pretty F*cking cool too I might add. Also, I totally forgot about switching the banks before I flashed it I was too excited about actually getting it installed and working that I didn't even think about it. Is there a way to get it back to normal? I mean, I have everything flashed now properly on 1234, but basically I don't have a backup anymore huh? Thanks guys. Oh, also I'm having some problems getting my xbmc to access my shared files, but I'm sure if I do some reading I'll figure it out. Thanks! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

You have a back up, if its a 1.6a, hold Power+Reset on boot, (*note: I have had a few 1.6's that require a delayed press of the eject button, but only by a millisecond, just dont hold both simultaneously on startup. Hold power, then quickly press eject and hold both)
1.6, you only have bank 5678, so download a copy of Flashbios 3.03 on Teamxecuter.com or xbins and then flash that to the backup rom, so you replace the (Power+Eject) backup with 3.03. _________________ XBOX v1.6
